1. I applaud the courage. You'd never see a republic do that.

8. Oh please
He can withdraw his plea if he successfullyl completes a "drug diversion program." He's getting off way easy, especially since this isn't the first time he's been in trouble.

15. and others like Limbaugh did the same --
So what's your point? Because it's Gore's son, he should do a harder penance?

18. i think the point is
if it was anyone else, they'd be sitting in the pokey.

he was caught doing in excess of 100 mph.

i think that is a felony traffic violation, but it doesn't appear he was prosecuted for that.

There's no reason to regard a guilty plea here as a special mark o'manliness. He got a much better deal than most of us would have.

24. I was NOT saying it was a mark of "manliness"
But some posters seem to think that because he's Gore's kid he should be willing to *take it* in terms of sentencing. Sad fact, his family could afford a decent lawyer, and there probably was a bunch of legal wheeling and dealing going on in the background.

Anyone who COULD afford the type of lawyer his family could would be doing the SAME exact thing. So why is it that some think it should be otherwise, because of his parentage?

10. There is no telling what part the VP had in his son's decision
but I recall when I got my driver's license 37 years ago, my Dad, a man of few words, told me if I got in trouble with the law I better hope they keep me. I don't believe my Dad ever voted in an election and never talked politics at home accept for the occasional local race. But with a paternal assist I did grow into an evil, hedonistic liberal and have been all these years, with nary a criminal citation on my record (unless a speeding ticket is a crime and that occurred 23 years ago.)

14. Noelle Bush got off with a slap on the wrist -- rehab.

It should be interesting to see what happens here.

21. He can withdraw his plea if he passes rehab.
Pretty much a slap on the wrist too. If he does rehab, it's like the guilty plea never happened.
