Response from Sen. Feinstein re: bush Impeachment

Dear Mrs. ********:

Thank you for your letter concerning impeachment proceedings against President Bush. I appreciate the time you took to write and welcome the opportunity to respond.

In our recent elections, the American people expressed clear disapproval with the path this country was on. They are tired of partisan politics and of an Administration that pays little heed to the wishes of the American people. They want-and deserve-a Congress that holds the Administration accountable and fulfills its Constitutional responsibility to check and balance the Executive. I share this sentiment and am determined to work hard and across party lines in the United States Senate to promote issues that are of real concern to most Americans, including the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan, homeland security, global warming, and lobbying and election reform.

At this time, however, I believe that impeachment proceedings against President Bush will only divide the country even further, frustrating our hopes for a meaningful change in direction, while having little chance of success.

I have been deeply disappointed by many of this Administration's actions and have been outspoken in those instances. Nevertheless, given the challenges our country faces I believe that we need to focus on constructive and cooperative steps that would lead us in the right direction.

Again, thank you for your continued correspondence. If you have any further questions or comments, please contact my office in Washington, D.C. at (202) 224-3841. Best regards.

Sincerely yours,

Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator

1. At this time?
And I beg to differ with Mrs. Feinstein: impeachment is the only hope for a meaningful change in direction.

2. I wish she'd update that letter.
I've gotten a few exactly like that from her.

At this time, however, I believe that impeachment proceedings against President Bush will only divide the country even further, frustrating our hopes for a meaningful change in direction, while having little chance of success.

If this statement was ever true, it isn't now. Impeaching Bush and Cheney is necessary for public safety and the restoration of the rule of law.

13. I'm not interested in making Hillary Clinton president in 2008
I'm interested in making Nancy Pelosi president in 2007.

16. It seem I got the other letter about the same time as the impeachment one
which is why it pissed me off.

That is why I included it but forgot to add my usual sarcasm

Pelosi president in 2007 or early 2008 works for me

15. I understand why she sends form letters
I talked with somebody who once worked in her office a few years ago who told me the Senator receives about 10,000 e-mails a month.

But she should update it more often. Maybe our Congresscritters in the beltway bubble aren't aware of it, but the situation has changed.

3. It will split the country? I haven't seen too many group hugs between Reps and Dems
in Congress lately. How can impeachment split the country even further?

17. That's exactly what I was thinking.
The Founding Fathers put Impeachment in the Constitution for a reason.

4. Take off those blinders, sister. We have already been divided by the worst
of them, Satan himself.

I don't understand how the people of California have kept this slow motion woman in the Senate. She is so slow, so boring and so much of nothingness.

I know Feinstein is very rich. This war and this president haven't personally touched her life or her wealth. In fact she has most likely profited from the war through her stocks and her husband's business.

She sits in the Senate representing all the people and she is blatantly ignoring what they want.

*'s crimes have mandated impeachment. To ignore them and refuse to impeach is un-American.

5. Wow, what a load of bullshit.
"At this time, however, I believe that impeachment proceedings against President Bush will only divide the country even further, frustrating our hopes for a meaningful change in direction, while having little chance of success."

In other words, Feinstein think's you're stupid.

7. Out-of-touch-with-reality bullshit!
She does think grassroots dems are stupid, and she obviously believes the locksteppers will continue lockstepping.

6. Dear Di-Fi....
We didn't ASK you what *YOU* think, we fucking TOLD YOU to do something, and as your employers, we DEMAND that you do what *we* TELL YOU TO DO.

Drop the excuses and get on the ball. The only thing that will divide this Country further is the inaction of you spineless wimpocrats...

9. Did I miss the Congressional vote? The one where they voted to *not* uphold the Constitution?
One after another, it's the same response, just worded slightly differently. If I were a :tinfoilhat: type, I might wonder just whom they are representing. It certainly isn't We, the People.

19. Don't you just love those response letters that express such warm empathy,
and then tell you that you are wrong, or that your concern somehow doesn't matter, or that no action will be taken, or that your representative just knows better than you?

NOT.
