Here's To Hoping That John Roberts Is Ok
Edited on Mon Jul-30-07 05:43 PM by ruggerson
I don't wish ill health or tragedy on anybody. I think his politics and belief system are abhorrent, and I would love it if he decided to resign tomorrow, but I wish him the best of health and good vibes headed his way on the medical front.

As long as one is hoping, one might as well HOPE.

I have seizures and twenty minutes later can be fine and seem like nothing ever happened. It's why I don't bother with going to the doctor or hospital.By the time I'd get there I'd be fine and they'd be like,"What the fuck are you doing here?" :)

I've had Catscans and Ultrasounds and tests on my adrenal glands. No one knows what causes mine, and the seizures are spaced so far apart I've given up trying to find out what it is.

He might be driving next time.

Scary, isn't it? All I can say is I can feel mine coming on with just enough time that I could pull over or something. And he probably has a driver. :)

My brother has been epileptic since he was 4 years old, and in the 40+ years since then, he has been through more hell than I would ever wish upon even my worst enemy.

I, too, wish Mr. Roberts good health and no recurring seizures.

(And I wish your son as easy a road as possible as he copes with the disease, and hope that his case is mild.)

37. Thanks ruggerson. I agree with you completely
I'm saddened that some people confuse justice and vengeance. I don't wish anyone, anyone ill. But I do hope for justice. And if that means dragging several people before the World Court, giving them a fair trial, and then sticking them in a latter-day Spandau after they've been convicted, then so be it.

But to wish for another person's pain, suffering, or worse just out of hate or a sense of retribution is plain wrong.

But hey, I'm an atheist, so what do I know?

41. If he is unable to serve, wouldn't Justice Stevens temporarily be Chief Justice?
I believe he was such when it was an 8 person court after Rehnquist's death. That would be interesting if no SC justice could be approved while impeachment papers were being served. That would mean that if it were an 8 man court when it went to the Senate, that Stevens would preside over the impeachment trial in the Senate instead of Roberts. That would be VERY interesting!

But I hope he retires then so we can put a non-asshole freeper in there and undo all the damage he has managed to do in such a short time. This man actually deserves to be impeached for lying during his confirmation hearings.
But now would not be a good time for him to step aside because Bush would just appoint some other fascist.

50. Roberts is the enemy. This year alone, he led a narrow majority....
...that permitted greater regulation of a woman's right to choose, shielded manufacturers from large punitive-damage verdicts, barred school integration guidelines that assigned some children based on race, and cleared the way for even more corporate-funded ads prior to elections. He is the polar opposite of that old right-wing chestnut, "liberal activist judge."

And yet, here he is, laid low by a health issue. There is not a lot of satisfaction in kicking him while he's (literally) down. I aspire to get to that place where Jesus, Gandhi, Mother Teresa, etc. all got -- turning themselves inside out, dying to the self, no ego, as the love pours forth, a vessel through which all light and life travels. In this spirit, I wish our chief justice a thorough and swift recovery.

The grand question is: Will this experience humble C.J. Roberts to humanity, even in some small way?

I think we should all hope that those afflicted with epilepsy and many other conditions that afflict humanity can find relief.

He is the button down collar and necktie enabler of corporate monsters. Those non-human monsters have murdered millions, and will continue to do so so long as people like him are in positions of power. A couple million Vietnamese, a million Iraqis, a few million Cambodians, a million or so in Latin America, and so on. Pretty soon you are talking real numbers.

To both his affliction and the affliction upon us of his

Then we can all walk away happy. Yes, Roberts is a fellow human

I wish him far less ill than he has wished upon us. May he submit
