FDL: John Roberts and The Lightning Stroke
FDL made me pause and think about this seizure thing.

Up near my parents’ home in the boonies, there was, until last Saturday, a 20-room mansion. It had seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and a grand piano, as well as several precious works of art. It burned to the ground this weekend, and nobody knows why just yet, but it doesn’t look like arson. There was a boom like a lightning stroke as the propane tank blew up. It was a sizable tank, so the boom could be heard all the way into town.

Things that seem so stable can, for good or ill, turn to dust at the blink of an eye or a stroke of lightning. John Roberts, who was picked by Bush in part because of his relative youth and health, was supposed to ensure archconservative dominance of the Supreme Court for decades to come. Things and situations we think of as unchanging and permanent can be irreversibly altered faster than we can describe the process.

Something for us all to contemplate.

Something else to think about... if this was Justice Ginsburg - would Pat Robertson and his ilk be claiming it was the hand of god assisting in their great cause?

1. Don't get your hopes up
Millions of people live with seizures of unknown origin for many years, functioning perfectly well.

3. the seizures themselves probably aren't as dangerous
as when/where you might have them (i.e. driving, going down stairs, etc.)

That is what I think was meant by referencing the randomness of lightning.

10. Uh...no
I don't pray, nor do I believe in god. Sending good thoughts his way is what I prefer.

5. my girlfriends son had two siezures and the brain showed no symptoms..of any disease, and they
diagnosed it as using gameboy type games( hand held ) and using the computer..for prolonged time..they said these siezures have been isolated in Japan among young people...and teens .and that it is an increasingly growing serious problem..

6. really? Was this hand-held only or game systems like the
xbox 360 and such. Also, using the computer for a prolonged time - most of us use them at work and then again at home later - what are they saying is a "prolonged time"? This is very interesting.

Is your girlfriend's son okay now? I hope so.

9. i really don't know and don't understand it all but it was something about white dots or
white lights that are emitted..evidently there are studies going on in japan about it..

all i know is last summer this young boy had a seizure in a swimming pool..and he had all kinds of studies now done on him and it has to do with computers and the kid games ..i don't know what kind of games..my kid is grown so i am not up on that stuff..but it was hand held type of games..

but it was white something..white dots..or white lights..that are emmitted from the computer and games..

i wish i could tell you more..but i can't..it is something to do with Photosensitivity..anyway ..he can no longer watch Tv , play video stuff or look at the computer..they hope he will grow out of it.
