I'd really, really like to "believe" in Arlen Specter

...however to truly experience the Hill-Thomas Hearings you really had to see and hear them. I's also like to add that Illinois Senator Alan Dixon voted to confirm Thomas which resulted in angry women storming his office....I'm proud to say that I was one of them, with my grandmother and my 2 year-old daughter. As a result of his vote, he lost the next election to Mosley-Braun, paving the way for women in the Senate. In fact, a record number of women were elected in '92 as a result of this hearing.

and he said that evidence of Clarence Thomas' addiction to pornography (adult video store rental records and evidence of pornographic photos plastering the walls of his home) was also irrelevant. But I think the worst part of it was Biden's refusal to call witness Angela Wright. Angela Wright was another woman who had an even more powerful story to tell about several acts of sexual harrassment against her by her boss Clarence Thomas, who even asked her for her breast size. Biden's office asked Wright to not show up for her subpoena as he didn't intend to call her. Biden and the bunch didn't have the political courage to withdraw the subpoena themselves. At least, that's how I think the story goes.

Biden grossly mishandled those hearings.

I've discounted his recent approach with Gonzales. I'm expecting at a crucial moment he will step in and save him, then point to his previous strong statements as proof of his credibility.

then it will be "even Arlen Specter thinks Gonzales is vindicated."
