So should I hold my breath and wait for NBC to do the decent thing
and air an hour long special celebrating the career of Tom Snyder?

It would certainly be proper of them to stop for an hour and honor a man who worked so hard to make them a good deal of money.

Times are so different now though, I shouldn't get my hopes up waiting for "decent" and "proper"....:(

Good luck with that. We'll send over some bottled oxygen for your post pass-out recovery.

Now, profit movitivation on the other hand..... How much money can they possibly make on his death? That's the million dollar question.

Yes, I'm cynical. But tell me I'm wrong.

8. When he retired, it was from CBS, and he also worked for ABC radio
I think he's been off-air for so long, that none will honor him properly:cry:.

Craig Ferguson & Keith did a tribute to him.. I missed Dave, but I suspect that Dave did too..

It would have been nice to have never lost him as a presence on the air at all..

9. And They'll Make $$$$ How???
If NBC knew there was gold in running old Tomorrow show clips, the special would be on and promoted...but that wasn't Tom Snyder. Most people never even knew about him, yet his show...except for us party animals stuck up late with no other channels on to watch. Snyder's audience was small but loyal, intelligent and and anti-thesis of what network television caters to.

Hopefully some of his better Tomorrow interviews will now come out on DVD...a far greater tribute to the man as a few minute snippets didn't do the man justice only watching a full interview gives you an idea of what made Snyder both a great interviewer and a solid personality.

I far prefered his radio shows of the late 80's and early 90's...ABC attempted to use him to compete with Larry King, but never promoted what he did. It was a great show as he put on a nightly display of his humor and vast knowledge of a lot of topics. When people ask me when radio started to go to hell, I still say it's when Tom's show was cancelled.

Honestly, Snyder didn't make NBC much, if any money...he was on during the "graveyard" hours (in those days TV died after the Tonight Show). His value isn't to NBC...who rarely promoted him...but to the many of us late night viewers who had the pleasure to see this man do his thing.
