Lieberman escalates attack on Iraq critics
By Manu Raju
July 31, 2007

Ever since Connecticut Democrats refused to back him for a fourth term in Congress, Joe Lieberman has been burnishing his independent credentials in the narrowly divided Senate while becoming increasingly critical of the Democratic Party on the war in Iraq.

Lieberman, the Democrats’ 2000 vice presidential nominee, insists he is not actively considering joining the Republican Party. But he is keeping that possibility wide open as his disenchantment grows with Democratic leaders. The main sticking points are their attempts to end the war in Iraq and their hesitation to take a harder line against Iran.

“I think either {Democrats} are, in my opinion, respectfully, naïve in thinking we can somehow defeat this enemy with talk, or they’re simply hesitant to use American power, including military power,” Lieberman said in a wide-ranging interview with The Hill.

“There is a very strong group within the party that I think doesn’t take the threat of Islamist terrorism seriously enough.”

Lieberman says he is annoyed by the mudslinging on Capitol Hill and Democrats’ unwillingness to work with President Bush. But his critics say he has contributed to that polarization by his rhetoric and refusal to compel Bush to find a new way forward in Iraq.

9. I would be actively seeking a Republican moderate to switch parties.

Any moderate (R) knows that '08 is lost to them so switching might be a better alternative.

Give them Joe's toys and boot his ass from every committee.

5. More Irrelevency
I could see Joe getting out the rollodex and planting this bullshit just to get some attention and try to stir up shit where he no longer can.

His vote meant nothing the moment he voted for Harry Reid as Majority Leader and now his votes on Iraq are negated by those of Hagel and Smith...with more on the way. I think it's high time his ass got kicked out of the Democratic caucus...and let's see how his GOOP buddies glam onto him.

The Joe show has little shelf-life in the beltway as he's dug his grave with the political fates of this regime. He won't join the Repugnicans cause he loses his senority and knows that relegates him to even more obsolesence.

This is just Joe sitting in the corner, making faces and saying "Hey Lookee Here". Pay no attention.

6. Leiberman is a tape measure. You can measure Israeli
determination in the U.S. taking out Iraq, Iran, (Syria maybe) by the distance he goes for Israel. He is one loyal representative.

Israel:
Not the peace seekers.
Not those who want to live and grow up with their children.
Not those who want to live side-by-side.

But, those who rule their country. Just like those who rule this country.

His reasons? Devotion to __________________.

10. Joe Lieberman's viability has a shelf-life....
...of about a year and a half. After the 2008 elections, even the ReThugs realize that a major shift in representation is most likely to occur. Thus, his use as a wedge in the cobbled together "Senate majority" will have lost its cache'.

And depending upon the extent of the revulsion that Americans have by this time, it could sweep in a substantial enough majority to where he could be reduced to utter irrelevancy. Then the people of Connecticut who chose him over the Nedney the Democratic primary winner, will then begin to reap what they've sown.

And so will Joe. Karma can be a bitch....

12. Joementalism - n.
Lieberman's ability to convince people anything about him remains relevant, despite all evidence to the contrary.
