Terrible idea of the day - make your own submachine gun at home
<http://thehomegunsmith.com/>

I have no problem with guns, but don't you think if you make a gun at home it might, well, explode in your face?

1. Not with the proper skill and equipment, but this is hardly anything new.
For decades now, automatic weapons that are illegal as automatic, but not as semiautomatic have been sold, and the fix to make them operate automatically has been available ever since, though it's illegal to install, and you're probably flagged by the FBI or Tobacco and Firearms if you purchase one.

3. Yes, but you have the sense and foresight not to try.
Just about any machinist could figure out what to do, and, of course, gunsmiths.

7. Guns that are easily converted to full auto are considered to be full auto
under Federal law, even if not actually converted. That's why there there are no civilian semiautos that fire from an open bolt; such a gun would be legally a machinegun because it could be fairly readily converted to one.

4. Well that is what happened when I tried making Gin at home
But I don't know. Are guns more dangerous than alcohol?

5. Without the proper license they will put your ass under the jail
A friend of mine got whatever class of Federal Firearms license is needed to manufacture full automatic weapons as well as silencers. You can not believe the hell he had to go through to get it. Another fellow that worked where I used to was making parts for machine guns in a shop he had set up in his elderly parents garage. I saw it once when I took a part there for him to silver-solder a repair for. About a month later it was raided. His parents lost their home over it. This is serious shit as far as the ATF is concerned, and they do not play.
