Bush nominee: Al Qaeda seems to have ‘unlimited pool’
By Klaus Marre
July 31, 2007

Marine Corps Gen. James Cartwright, President Bush’s nominee to become vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Tuesday that al Qaeda in Iraq seems “to have an unlimited pool” of fighters.

“In other words, as we defeat, others come in behind,” Cartwright said during his Senate confirmation hearing in response to a question from Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) as to whether the ongoing troop surge is diminishing al Qaeda’s presence in Iraq.

“We are challenging it,” Cartwright said. “And in that challenge, in areas we are diminishing it, for sure.”

1. Well yeah but when you look at the average Bush Candidate
or President Bush himself you notice how shallow they are. Hell even a 10 foot deep pool probably looks unlimited from their perspective.

3. Man, can you believe that?
Al Qaeda is having an easy time recruiting. I wonder if it's because the leader of their enemies referred to some of the host nations as an 'axis of evil'. Or because the same leader dragged his country off to a war in the Mideast, inflaming tensions across the region, and giving Bin Laden a point to rally around.

Coming from someone connected to the Bush adminstration, this is like the kid who climbs up to the cabinet and knocks over the cookie jar, then runs to his mother and tells her there happens to be glass all over the kitchen floor.

4. Indeed.
Al Qaeda has a secret, invisible pool of billions and billions of operatives, just waiting to strike.

How many fucking times must it be demonstrated? Military might alone cannot defeat terrorists. Ask the British. Or the French. Shit, ask the Russians. It is extremely disappointing to see someone in such a position of authority behaving like a twelve year old, completely without any legitimate insight into how the real world works.
