Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld appears to have refused to testify at a hearing scheduled for Wednesday on the friendly fire death of Army Specialist Patrick Tillman, RAW STORY has learned.

Tuesday afternoon, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released a witness list for the Tillman hearing. Rumsfeld, who was invited to testify by Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) on July 16, was not present.

The witnesses scheduled to testify are:

* Gen. John P. Abizaid (Retired), Former Commander, U.S. Central Command
* Gen. Richard B. Myers (Retired), Former Chair, Joint Chiefs of Staff
* Gen. Bryan Douglas Brown (Retired), Former Commander, U.S. Special Operations Command
* Lt. Gen. Philip R. Kensinger, Jr. (Retired), Former Commander, U.S. Special Operations Command

Obviously, if the official story were consistent with what he knows, he would appear, testify and move on. That he won't testify tells me that he doesn't want to lie, but he also doesn't want to tell what he knows.

because there are known unknowns and unknown unknowns and with Rummy all is unknown sometimes even by him. Such things as the PLAN for the war in Iraq beyond just get the troops into a quagmire and it will all sort itself out somehow.:argh:

16. I'm surprised anyone pays any attention to the House or Senate.

Nothing seems to happen to anyone who just doesn't show. Let's see we have Miers, Rove and several others who just didn't show and nothing happened. Ignoring Congress seems to be legal now a days. But I guess they can just show up and lie, in the tradition of Gonzales. Lying to Congress is also a safe bet cause there seems to be no repercussions for it.

I'm just surprised anyone takes Congressional investigations seriously now a days.
