Police: Mom Bathed, Dressed Dead Kids
HANAHAN, S.C. (AP) - Two children found dead under an apartment sink had been bathed and dressed by their mother before being wrapped in trash bags, according to arrest warrants released Wednesday.

The warrants provide new details of the events that police say led to the arrest of Sametta Heyward, a single mother suspected of leaving her children in a hot car for hours while she was at work.

1. Crimany!
How many f*cking kids/pets-left-in-a-hot-car stories do we have to hear about each year? Some people are too stupid to breed or own living things. Animals have more sense. &*$%#!

2. All things considered...
I suspect she will be found profoundly mentally ill.

4. Maybe, Maybe Not
Her actions (post-death) were driven by emotion and instinct, apparently. We can safely assume she lost it at some point, just not sure which point.

5. Tell you what:
If she wasn't diagnosable before, she sure as hell is now. Those are not the actions(cleaning and dressing) of a rational person with much in the way of a connection to objective and normative reality.

Gonna be one hell of a "chicken and egg" battle in court.

6. How Can One Expect a Mother* Who Just Lost Two Children, By Her Own Neglect,
Edited on Wed Aug-01-07 07:21 PM by Crisco
To be rational?

What her actions do connect to, for me, was the instinct to care for the bodies, by washing and formally dressing.

No doubt she either thought she was going to be in huge trouble, or simply didn't know the appropriate thing to do (garbage bags) next.

ETA * or for that matter, a father.

8. You're likely right.
I jump right into the most cynical of scenarios. I guess 7 years of this BS will do that to some people.

7. shock
can do strange things...especially if you're not too stable to begin with. This is a sad story, but not too unusual.

9. How desperate must she have been in the first place...
to have to leave those tiny kids in the car while she went to work...
(Why don't we have decent childcare in this country??!)

I would surely be crazy from grief & guilt if I discovered my kids dead- or near death.....because I left them there- for whatever the reason. When you're in shock , who knows what you'd do.

This is really heartbreaking......
