Or demand the federal government pay Louisiana for offshore royalties the same as other states. Yes that's FOURTEEN public 4 year universities for a population of around 4 million people. Blanco told us after Katrina and Rita that everyone would have to sacrifice. People talked about finally getting at least one if not two of the universities closed, but no. The budgets were actually increased for all of them. So since federal money came in and people got insurance checks to buy cars, houses and the things that go in houses and sales taxes spiked Blanco decided there was no need for sacrifice under her watch. And now the candidates must think this money will just keep coming in, in reality America is going to be asking for a good bit of that money back. They've already started to take some of it back.

Everyone was telling Blanco to hold up the offshore oil leases and demand we get the same deal other states get. Blano's response was pretty much, "no, America is throwing us some bones, we best just keep doing as they tell us, now isn't the time to ask to be treated as other states, we should just know our place."

Our senators tried to have us paid for offshore leases like other states and senator after senator Republican and Democrat alike told them they were trying to steal from the federal treasury by asking for the same deal as other states.
