paying our debts in real time
Much has been made about the fact that no one has been asked to sacrifice for this war except our military and their families, but that's not exactly correct. Since the $12B a month it's costing is all "off the books', and we're operating in a deficit economy, naturally the bill will be slipped onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. Here's my modest proposal. A $1.50 per gallon gas tax would pay for the war in real time, and spread the sacrifice throughout the public. I drive about 150 miles a week, and use approximately 7 gallons of gas. I'd be paying a war tax of a little less than $11 a week. By the way, our gas prices, even with the additional $1.50 per gallon added, would still be about half the average price of gas in england.

So let's belly up to the bar, and see who's serious about supporting the troops. Most of my Republican friends bemoan the Democrat's tendencies to "cut and run". Here's their opportunity to do something good for their country and their grandchildren , all for the cost of a trip to McDonald's once a week.

Any thoughts?

1. I drive about 150 miles per week and use a hell of a lot
more than 7 gallons of gas. I have to fill up once a week. What do you drive? A motorcycle?

3.  I drive a '94 Dodge Caravan
and the overhead console says I average a little less than 22 miles per gallon. Maybe I misfigured, but I think that'a about 7 gallons for a 150 mile work week. 9there is a real advantage to driving 250,00m mile vehicles, you really baby them along, and that helps on fuel economy.

2. How about taking it out of Bushco's ASSES!?!?!?!?!?!?!
They've made PLENTY off this illegal invasion. I say their pays' be docked, and they get none of the benie's alloted to current and former federal employees.

In other words, they'd have to PAY just like the rest of us.
