Anti-terror chief 'misled' public

Jean Charles de Menezes was shot eight times
There were "serious weaknesses" in the Metropolitan Police's handling of information after the shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes, a report has found.
Assistant Commissioner Andy Hayman "misled" the public, the Independent Police Complaints Commission ruled.

The IPCC has examined statements issued by police after the 27-year-old was mistakenly shot dead by officers at Stockwell Tube station on 22 July 2005.

Met Commissioner Sir Ian Blair said Mr Hayman "retains my full support".

1. Bloody hell, have you seen some of the comments there?
It's worrying that people are just such morons...For some reason my comments keep getting rejected:

Some quotes:

"What lessons can be learnt?

That uncontrolled immigration of Muslim extremists during the last 15 years from every corner of the globe has led to the UK becoming a haven for hate preachers & terrorists which in turn led to the London bombings of 2005 &, eventually, to the tragic killing of Menezes by a police force doing its best to protect us. The root cause is this government’s total inability to control immigration or deport extremists & undesirables when identified."
Matt Marshall

Don`t see how it can. We had been attacked, he ran, the police officer did what he thought was the right thing. If he had been a terrorist we would be giving him a medal.
He isn`t the first person to be shot for failing to stop and he won`t be the last. I have no sympathy, he should have stopped.

Teresa Deem, bridgend

this man was here illegally,He ran from the police, this was confirmed by an eye witness at the time outside the tube station.Ok the shooting was a tradegy, but lets not forget the police acted because they believed he was about to blow himself and others up.and as for not being able to tell an arab from a brazilian,I think I would have problems.

My God, the idiotic comments just go on and on....Even with that press conference today and all the coverage on the news, some of these morons still haven't managed to get a grip on reality, Mr Menezes did NOT run from the police, the police did not warn him, they merely allowed him to continue onto the train, then they held him down and murdered the poor man by shooting him 8 times!

2. Sickening...
Anti-immigrant bigotry is alive and well, or rather sick, in Britain.

3. Yep, people have been too willing to jump on the
"Menezes was an immigrant, so he deserved to die" argument.....now that is sick!
