Has anyone seen the new Wal-Mart commercials... |
|
Edited on Thu Aug-02-07 02:19 PM by Virginia Dare
Lots of attractive people of all different races and cultures pumping gas and bemoaning the high prices and then all ultimately conclude that they're fighting back by shopping at Wal-Mart...:wtf:

5. They lied extensively when the company first moved into California. . . |
|
spent a fortune touting how everything they sold was made in America -- seemingly all of it in Arkansas, too -- played on people's xenophobia and base nationalist prejudice before pulling the "ol' switcheroo" and filling their shelves with cheap crap from all over the globe (even Arkansas).
So no, I don't shop there, and if I can avoid it I pay no attention to their ads, either.

6. True, their entire marketing campaign is based on lies.. |
|
and me neither, I avoid it like the plague, luckily I have that choice, and I just happened to see it last night when I was watching coverage of the bridge collapse. Even for them, it seemed pretty over the top. :hi:

set foot in that store. I never have. A news investigation (back when we still had real reporters)revealed signs on every shelf, display, etc. saying "Made in America". But not one of the items on display was made in this country. They went on to do a hidden video in one of the clothing factories that supplies Wally World. There were 9-year-old kids doing the work, living in the back of the factory, making pennies an hour, while the company charged them for room and board. The manager said (through an interpreter) "we can put a tag in the clothes that says they were made in ...(wherever you want)." I was horrified.

8. They don't show them here. |
|
There is no WalMart in Marin County and cable doesn't show any of WalMart's crap.
SF network affiliates may show them, but who watches that stuff, anyway?

10. Saw it on CNN last night? |
|
I believe. I almost never watch CNN, but I turned it on when I heard of the bridge collapse last night and happened to catch it. Or it could have been MSNBC.
