Hill, White House Draw Battle Lines - Post-Recess Fights on Key Issues Are Brewing

As lawmakers head for a month-long recess tomorrow, Congress and the White House are embroiled in confrontations on multiple fronts, signaling the potential for widespread gridlock when they return in September on the war, the budget and issues such as health care and education.

Despite promises of bipartisanship, both sides are drawing sharp lines over big bills involving farm policy, energy and domestic spending. Last night, the Senate, with bipartisan support, approved a $35 billion expansion of the State Children's Health Insurance Program, shrugging aside a veto threat from President Bush. With 18 Republicans voting against the president, the 68 to 31 vote provided a veto-proof majority. On an 83 to 14 vote, the Senate also sent Bush a new ethics bill that is tough on lobbyists but weaker on one of the president's top priorities, exposing pork-barrel spending.

.........

Bush taunted Democrats yesterday for not passing the annual spending bills, even though the next fiscal year will not begin until October. He hosted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and her husband at a private dinner at the White House on Tuesday, yet Bush took a veiled shot at her in the Rose Garden yesterday over her comment this week that the Democrats' proposal to spend $22 billion more on domestic programs than what the White House wants amounts to a "very small difference."

"Only in Washington can $22 billion be called a very small difference," Bush said.

Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) responded, "He must be in the Twilight Zone." ....

2. PBS's Charlie Rose: Interview with Speaker Nancy Pelosi

06/27/2007

From a recent appearance on Charlie Rose

NANCY PELOSI:

"He’s a lovely man.

You know, he comes from a beautiful, lovely family,

great patriotic family, serves in the highest office of the land,

leader of the free world. And he’s a nice person.

It’s not his personality, it’s his policies."

Can you believe this shit.

6. Ugh! I hope she is telling him that the American people
want him impeached, and that he should have talked to Cindy Sheehan a long time ago, because Cindy just might be sitting where Nancy is no sitting one of these days.

3. Well that does it....
....Pelosi calls Bush a "lovely man" and Feinstein votes to approve a racist to sit on the federal bench as a judge.

I'm a firm supporter of women in political office. Just NOT these women....

Pelosi and Feinstein, its getting so its hard to tell them apart...

We are in the Twilight Zone that is the result of the dizzy, mind-bending script that Boosh is producing and his lackey's are authoring, (from Rove, to Cheney, to the larger, money interests involved).

So, WE are LIVING in a virtual Twilight Zone and it is getting to be time that we write ourselves out of that script before we end-up with one of those shocking, but now expected, bizarre outcomes.

It ends something like,

The people in the Citizen's Camp stood around, moping, rustling, yawning, and coughing. They gazed up at the huge Laser-driven TV screens and saw that nothing was different there in Television Land. The camp's new denizens noted that there were three colors of interment clothing being worn. Word had it that those colors, upon further processing, would determine the nature and severity of their fates. Some were shocked and wailing out loud. Others were more reserved and even managed to sport, "I told you so!" expressions. Other's even went around announcing that fact out loud.

Perfect and wonderful in every way, the television shows continued as they had before Martial law. The actual event that brought about the sweeping changes, and what people now call the "sweeps" played out over a short period of time and then, suddenly, mostly disappeared from the major spotlight -- like everything in TV Land eventually does. The only Americans that noticed the rather abrupt change of focus were the ones who had been swept up or those who were wondering what happened to them. Martial law had come and Commander Bush, (who would no longer referred to as President because it is condescending) would chime in hourly with safety spotlights to assure everyone that he had everything under control. America felt safer after the attacks as his friendly face assured it was so. The Commander's approval rating shot up to 100% over a short period of time and everyone knew it was best not to question the accuracy or source of those polls. After all, it was becoming very clear that television was now the only source of reality and everything else was subject to the interrogation of opinion.

Nobody, in the camps or outside, will ever forget the nigh when Commander Bush gave his phenomenal and historical Safety of our Union Address. That is when we all learned just how the removal of the bad and detrimental element, along with full, Martial law, had created the end of the threat of terrorism for our people. He told us that our total, Patriotic submission was the final salvo in the war and that it had ended that fateful night of the Crimson Attack. We were told that a few, rogue bands of remaining terrorists might strike here and there, but they now meant nothing because all of America was working, finally, in full cooperation with our Great and Tireless Commander Bush!

It is a good time to be alive now! Many of us outside the camps have come to love the Ministry of Enrichment and how it leads us to other helpful programs where we can find outlets for our unpatriotic thoughts. We tell our dreams there even and feel so good when we come out. Most of us, (except for the crimethinkers) can easily see from television, how and why those who were swept -- like the terrorist-supporting vermin they are -- were actually the cause of our problems with terror all over the World. Sure, they were family members, friends, teachers, and even clergy, but we now know, for a fact, that they were the reason terror invaded our every day lives and made us so miserable. We are happy now. In fact, I heard a kind old woman tell me with passion how glad she was that her son had been taken to the camps. His academic pursuits and blogging had been a scourge, for many years, on Commander Bush's compassion and goals. I smiled as she cursed the day her renegade child issued from the womb and then, she spit on the ground with a vengeance and we looked lovingly at the picture of our Great Protector on her kitchen wall.

With Commander Bush, I curse all those who dare to oppose the peace our war will win! We are now taking on new fronts to bring this democracy and freedom from thought to other lands where they have yet to see the light of progress! May we be so fortunate as to never hear the that evil word, "election" again!
