WEST MILFORD -- It wasn't a very nice salute to the local victims of 9/11. But as pranks go these days, at least it was harmless, police say.
As water filled a fountain in front of Town Hall dedicated to 9/11 victims early Thursday, soap suds began rising, eventually reaching to nearly 8 feet, police Capt. Andrew Russo said.
Apparently, some type of laundry or dish detergent had been poured into the fountain overnight, providing a bubbly welcome to a police officer who spotted the mess around 6:30 a.m.
"It's a little prank," he said. "It wasn't meant to cause any harm."

Prominent among those listed on the stone memorial is resident Jeremy Glick, who was among the passengers on United Airlines Flight 93 who famously stormed the cockpit of the hijacked jet before it crashed in Pennsylvania.
