No-sex programmes 'not working'
No-sex programmes 'not working'

Sex abstinence programmes do not stop risky sexual behaviour or help in the prevention of unwanted pregnancy, a research team has concluded.

The Oxford University team reviewed 13 US trials involving over 15,000 people aged 10 to 21.

They found abstinence programmes had no negative or positive impact on the rates of sex infections or unprotected sex, the British Medical Journal said.

1. The Most Effective Programs Are In The Netherlands
They went from having a relatively high rate of teen pregnancies to a very, very low rate by handing out condems and discussing sex frankly and candidly in school.

2. I love the Netherlands.
For a lot of things, not just that, but that's a great example of how a progressive society works.

3. Frank discussion
The idea of frank discussion is wonderful however, is the public school system the place to have it and is the public school system the place to dispense condoms? Moral positions can not be avoided when discussing sex. In our desire to promote diversity, shouldn't morality also follow that diversity. Dispensing condoms and discussion of sex definitely denies moral positions held by many religious persons including flowers of Islam. Also considering the recent flood of sexual activity involving teachers and students wouldn't sex education in school be asking the fox to watch the hen house?
We bash conservatives for their penchant to stick their noses in or bedrooms. Shouldn't we allow parents the right to have these discussions in the privacy of their homes or at worst allow them to select the method of education?

4. The parents DO have the right to have those discussions, many choose not to. And, they DO
have the right to select the method of education, indirectly, it's called electing their school board.

8. If you have a child, are you going to discuss sexuality with them?
Will your neighbor? If your neighbor won't, is it fair that their children are going to hit puberty without understanding what is going on with their bodies and how to cope with those changes? This story demonstrates that either teaching abstinence or worse, silence, is just not at all effective at keeping rates of sexually transmitted diseases low and preventing teenage pregnancies. Should the social institution which is charged with educating the uneducated (schools) do that for the benefit of those who will not receive that education at home?

9. We Have A Choice To Make
We can either:

1. have schools lead frank discussions about sexuality, and have a low teen pregnancy rate, or
2. leave parents to have those discussions - and have very high rates of teen pregnancy

I believe that The Netherlands has less than one-tenth our teen pregnancy rate.

5. Why do they think it's going to work?
We have a commercial culture which uses sex to sell everything in the book. The free-market people want to have it both ways - they want to use sex-bomb advertising to sell their products, then they don't want to live with the impact that has on their children.

6. They just need to take the pledge...
http://ironhymen.com/

I, , hereby pledge:
1. To never let grubby boys touch me – unless it's just fun innocent stuff like tripping me and pulling my hair. (But only the hair on my head!)

2. To never wear trampy stuff like shorts or t-shirts or open-toed shoes, which basically tell horny perverts that I'm a major tramp who's just asking for it.

3. To never do rough stuff like ride horsies or bikes with hard seats, which could break my vagina's freshness seal and make me totally unlovable.

4. To never let tampons violate the sanctity of my hoo-hoo, because tampons are really nothing more than thirsty little albino penises.

5. To never have premarital sex, because Jesus doesn't want anyone messing around inside my girly hole until after His church makes some money off a wedding.

I understand that abstaining from sex protects me from:

Forcing my wonderful parents to use "tough love" and kick me out of the house for embarrassing them by being such a little whore.

Having adoption-hungry homosexuals circle my pregnant belly like vultures, hell-bent on corrupting my unwanted bastard child with their sicko "love."

7. Shocker
Is anyone surprised about this? As soon as you put something off limits, it makes it that much more tempting.
