Telemundo Suspends Newscaster Involved with LA Mayor

BURBANK, Calif. (AP) -- Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa says he hopes "we can all move forward" now that Telemundo has reached a decision on the future of a newscaster with whom he was romantically involved.

Telemundo says it has suspended Mirthala Salinas for two months without pay for violating conflict of interest policies. Three Telemundo employees also were disciplined. Findings of a three-week internal investigation were reported on the network's national newscast tonight and announced by executives.

Salinas was having a romantic relationship with Villaraigosa when she announced the news of his separation from his wife of 20 years on local Telemundo station KVEA, Channel 52. Salinas has
said station managers knew of the relationship before she anchored the news of his breakup.
