34. Sorry For The Late Reply... Been Very Busy Today...

I took my grand-daughter to the March on the Pentagon and was hoping to visit places like the Capitol and The Washington Monument. Turns out you had to get tickets early in the morning, around 8:00 AM to even get in. We stayed out by the University and by the time the Metro got us downtown the tickets were snapped up. Everywhere we went we went through some sort of security, my grand-daughter got so tired of removing her belt each time because of the buckle on her belt.

We did get into the Senate Gallery, but even then we were watched like hawks. She put her head on my shoulder and a lady tapped me on the shoulder and told me that there would be NO SLEEPING in the gallery!!! We were just snuggling! To get into that place we went through several security checks and she couldn't even bring in her bottle of water. Had to throw it away. We DID get to walk to the Lincoln Memorial and the Viet Nam Wall, but having been there 4 times before I was hoping she could have at least seen the Capitol. It's cordoned off and you can't approach it.

Since we only had 4 days I didn't rent a car, but the next time I go I will do it. Depending on where you stay, it's hard to get into D.C. early enough to get any tickets. We were going to go to a candle-light vigil on the day we arrived, but coming from Florida and getting rained and snowed on before our check-in time, we nixed the idea and decided to warm up some! It got down to around 24 degrees and for us, THAT is REALLY COLD! It's a good thing we didn't go to the WH though because quite a few people got arrested standing outsdide with candles!

At the March, there were Security Guards EVERYWHERE, with batons and shields and as we marched there were Repukes screaming at us and the guards didn't seem to mind when they crossed over the "imaginary line" while taunting us. Quite a few people got arrested for going to the Pentagon too, because they would only let us Rally below the place! My grand-daughter had never seen security guards in full gear! Actually, she has only seen policemen. It was quite and adventure for her and even though we didn't see as much as we wanted, it's a trip neither one of us will ever forget.

She's 11 and I felt the perfect time to take her. We had a great time anyway, but she wants to go back and see MORE! 9/15 will be the next March but my budget has been busted this summer so it will have to wait.

36. GMA hosted a town meeting for the candidates and I saw the one Edwards did.

He was able to talk about the issues there because he was answering questions from the audience. I think town hall meetings are extremely important but they take up lots of time and money traveling around.

Edwards is very appealing and gets better and better. I love how he and Elizabeth fight back right away when attacked. Elizabeth just demolished Ann Coulter on the Today Show when she herself phoned into the program. Ann ended up looking even more like a freak than she is. And we haven't heard any more "faggot" remarks from her, have we?
