Should be a great show on at 10 EST - |
|
Don't let the title fool you: Masters of Science Fiction on ABC.
It's not rocket ships and lasers and robots - I think you'll like the political undertones.

1. Heard all about it, and it looks like a great series... |
|
but burying it this late on a Saturday night is disturbing.
Probably has something to do with no anthology series making money in 30 years or so. Cannell and Spielberg both tried, but neither of them got off the ground. And there's two guys who know how to sell a show.

2. at least I live in CST |
|
so it's not too bad for me.
Guess they figure all the SF geeks will be up late on a Sat night with nothing to do.
Only really, folks, these shows are RELEVANT!

5. I'll pass on the politics, but... |
|
this was good stuff. A morality play in a great SF tradition with enough red herrings and twists to keep a mystery fan awake.
Kept expecting Hawking to say "We control the vertical..."

Curious as to why you say you'll "pass on the politics", though.

7. I meant partisan politics and any... |
|
references to Shrub some might see.
Good SF morality plays never get partisan and let everyone share the blame, because they know the players change all the time-- Twilight Zone had a few things to say about McCarthyism, but never mentioned McCarthy.
Loved it, and that final twist was a nice touch.

8. it was certainly difficult not to see references |
|
to shrub and current day players.
hmmmmmm- I wonder how much of the original dialogue was changed.
Dang it. I must get my hands on a copy of the original. I know I've read it before. I'm sure it's probably around here somewhere. . .
- - - being written in the mid-80's - I mean - I guess that's the essence of good writing - a story still timely.
