The GOP wins when we stop thinking and become emotional. |
|
That's how they operate; they are at their best when we don't use our heads. We are all pissed off and angry right now, but I'm asking everyone to sleep on it and consider what would happen if the bill wasn't passed and a terrorist attack occurred. Even if the Dem version was passed and Bush vetoed, it would still be Dems' fault, and you'd better believe the media would rip them apart. It would destroy our party.
Our goal is to get these psychopathic assholes out of office; Gonzo won't be AG forever and the law can always be changed. What we can't do is lose sight of this goal and fight amongst ourselves.
Who here doesn't think the GOP will do anything necessary to retain power? Think about it before passing judgment on our elected Dems and turning on them.

1. Too late. I've turned on them. I have no time for spineless wimps - |
|
especially when 70% of the country is behind them. I've been sleeping on it for over 7 years...and sleeping worse with time.

2. I understand both sides of the matter. |

I have to agree in part. And that is why I have learned to hate these... people more and more each day. I hate these people and everything they stand for. Everyday, they are in power I learn to hate them more. It's not just the GOP, but the millions of assholes who support them. I hate the GOP, Conservatives, Religion, Country Music, Southern "Culture", the anti-education crowd (which would be all of the above). I dispise them all. :puke:
I have never seen such dirty tactics used in my lifetime.
The Democrats gave Adolf Bush this bill because they know that the PR disaster that would await them should another terrorist attack occur.

Wanted: a Constitutional DemocratThe Dem leaders need to stop becoming paralyzed by fear. I'm still hearing the silly rationalizations from the funding debate, you know the ones that were dashed by Bush within two weeks of the vote.

7. You're right. It positions us to move the ball forward. That's what's important. |
|
This is a complicated business and while I'm not thrilled with everything they're doing, they're a lot better than the GOP majority was.
And if we get a bigger House majority and especially a larger Senate majority, in 2008, we'll see more of the kind of things we want to see.
Oh, and let's get Progressive Democrats and Liberal Democrats (often the same thing) to run for office wherever possible. Even if it means challenging an incumbent "conservative" Democrat.

But as I said in another post; the man can't be trusted, that's why everyone is so leery. Hell, I was so mad last night, I immediately got an email out to Casey, letting him know how appalled I was at his vote. I wish now, I hadn't jumped the gun. Because I agree, there are some pretty sharp Dems in this congress; let's see what they are up to.
We'll all see.

9. Oh come ON! The "terrorist threat" crap is WAY over rated. This is about creating a permanent |

police state, period. That's what imperialism gets you -- mass killings abroad, and totalitarianism at home.
Fuck the Dem collaborators -- they're imperialists, too.

10. We've been thinking....about our Constitutional rights and how Dems are pissing them away. |
|
The right thing to do would have been to sacrifice the vacation and force the President to sign the bill they originally intended to send him or have no FISA bill at all. Plain and simple.

11. You and our party have to stop believing terror is an important issue. |
|
IT IS NOT. So they blow up one bridge? Big deal. Fifty will fall from neglect. Tell me which is worse? And they haven't even managed to blow up one bridge. So we're just afraid they'll blow up a bridge and NOT afraid that the bridges will simply fall down? WE'RE WRONG.
Terror only works if you're actually afraid. It's been very successful among the Democrats.

12. It would still be the Dems' fault? Says who? I don't think so! |
|
Time for the Dems to take a stand, and they didn't do that tonight, or yesterday. And I AM PISSED. WHY didn't they? Wait 6 months, for what? Next month Petraeus is going to extend - for 6 more MONTHS. Lame.
