After this FISA Bullshit, it's clear there will be no Impeachment, of ANYONE
After the blatant criminality exposed via Gonzales's testimony,
After losing the War on Terror by falsifying intelligence and dragging America into an illegal war and occupation
After illegally using taxpayer funds to reward the military industrial complex with War Contracts
After COMMITTING TREASON by exposing a covert CIA operation focused on stopping NUCLEAR PROLIFERATION for the purpose of POLITICAL REVENGE and SILENCING DISSENT
After ILLEGALLY VIOLATING THE CONSTITUTION and the CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS OF U.S. Citizens

THIS FUCKING CONGRESS, This one, THE ONE WE WORKED SO HARD TO GET ELECTED

Decides to Give the CRIMINALS THE POWERS THEY HAVE BEEN TAKING ILLEGALLY.

I give up. There will be NO IMPEACHMENT. To even think this Congress would Impeach ANYONE, even Gonzales, IS LAUGHABLE.

2. After all this
is there any reason to stay a democrat?

This is the first time in all the years I've been registered as a democrat, I started to consider not being one.

This year has been steadily downhill. Made all the worse by the hope I felt last Nov.

I'm done, worn out, beat down.

3. Not only that, but...
...today's vote has made it clear that, whenever Bush tramples on the law, Congress will not stand idle, but jump into action -- to change the law to conform to Bush's actions.

And do you really think this sort of thing will go away when (if?) Bush and Cheney leave office? Sorry, but a precedent has been set -- our government is now an elected monarchy, and any rights we may claim are only held "at the pleasure of the President."

:argh:

19. Its way past time for the pitchforks
We should have been on the White House lawn demanding an end to this bullshit when it became clear that bush lied about WMD and mission accomplished and stolen elections in 2004 and outed CIA agents and Gonzalez and Cheney's lies etc etc.

Now Gonzalez gets to secretly approve spying on anyone he fucking wants to thanks to the democrats. Nice move.

The press is simply a propaganda arm of the republican party. The administration lies with impunity knowing nothing will be done to hold them accountable. Soldiers continue to die in a phony war. Iraq has been destroyed killing literally hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women and children...CHILDREN FOR GODS SAKE! All Americans are under surveillance and can have their assets frozen at any time with no explanation necessary and no recourse.

This is your America. This is the America the republican party has created. And there is only one way to stop it and thats with direct action against the fascist government that is now firmly in place. Only a popular uprising against the fascists will stop this and that wont happen because they have most Americans cowering in fear of them. We have allowed criminals to make our constitution meaningless and useless and do nothing about it. We got the government we deserve because we wont mobilize, organize and demand protection of that document.

It is a sad and depressing end to a great experiment. I will always stand in awe of the original constitution and the incredible thinkers who created that document.

The constitution is now a "quaint" document that has no meaning or use in todays America. Thanks America.

No. I joined the Green Party after the SC handed over the Govt. to the Neo Fascists. I didn't vote for Nadar but I agree with most of what he has said. Amerika needs a multi-Party System & a Parliamentary style Govt. The two party domination is obviously not representative of most non- wealthy Americans.

It's very discouraging. Some DUers like to think there's a grand plan behind all of these moves (or nonmoves, if you consider impeachment), but I think it's as obvious as it appears. They wanted to go on vacation. Time to give a heads up to people we will not contribute to and will not support in the next election.

65. Not stupid - you believed them
Getting your trust knocked out from under you is not an easy thing to deal with.

Many of us knew months ago where this was heading, so it was easier (in the anti-climatic sense) to interpret the results as being anything but surprising.

The belief that the two parties "differ" in any way save for the "sure-fire vote getter" component of each is, as you can now see, a ruse.

Only when folks translate their disgust into action will anything ever change.

Changing the drapes does no good if the house is condemned.

The only way to kick an addiction is to let it go..

68. Sadly...I don't think anything will come from them either. When Waxman
caved and will allow Rove to be inteviewed without oath or transcript with his lawyers there...I knew.

The plug was pulled last week. I could tell when Specter was so confident he could get Bush to allow all the witnesses to testify if Leahy would just let them do it in private with no transcript. The deal was if they found anything they could call them back with a transcript. Specter seemed confident and Leahy just didn't seem himself even though he sounded angry. Sheldon Whitehouse barely questioned Jennings and turned his time back to Leahy. Whitehouse is one of the best and he looked disgusted...and Ben Cardin barely asked any probing questions of Jennings and he ended up being one of the Dems who voted for the FISA extension even though he's on the very Judicial Committee that listened to Gonzo's lies.

A deal was cut...there will be no impeachment. The plug was pulled for whatever reason.

there WILL BE a terrorist attack (MIHOP) and THEY will make sure the Dems are blamed for it for not passing a new FISA Bill.

Something is going on and why Congressional members let it continue is curious. That's why I'm leaning toward Blackmail.

The Dems need to start wiretapping these thugs on their own. Get their threats on tape and play it on teevee.

60. Sadly, you are right.
I've seen it. So many people are not even paying any attention to anything that is going on. They won't pay attention until they are personally hit hard, and then they'll say "What happened?"

61. There is one party...the Corporatocracy...they will not do anything for us.
They will use words like "We're fighting...", "We're trying...", etc. Put on a little show to make the stupid American people that we have a democracy here. Bullshit. We have nothing. They've all sold their souls to the empire-building corporate elites. THAT'S who they're working for. It became evident to me as soon as Pelosi said impeachment is off the table. The ONLY reason impeachment would be off the table is because they are complicit.

64. This is why many of us now believe in a "third" option
It really doesn't matter how long it takes one to uncover the charade - what matters much more is one's refusal to continue to play.

To those of you just now waking to the truth - welcome aboard.

And thanks.

You can talk about it if you'd like - PM me and we'll chat.

73. I share your total disappointment in these hacks and your hard work
in getting them elected, while frustrating, may yet pay off.

The House had a higher percentage of loyalty, only 40 of 230 or so defected while 16 bailed in the
Senate.

There are some up there who have laid the foundations - Conyers, Waxman, Leahy, Schumer. The rest
have to catch up. Senators like Feinstein, (D-Hell) need to be forced but they'll jump when they
have to.

The public is clearly furious with Bush, 25% approval, amazing. It will go down, only down.
Why won't our representatives act...that's when the pressure starts. They'll get an ear full when
they're at home. Then they'll get even more grief after they spend September doing nothing much, other
than the very important hearings going on, which will continue.

I've contributed a lot of time in 2004 and 2005, and some time in 2006. I don't regret it but I find
the total contempt in which we're held by those we help elect simply intolerable. We need a strong
national spokesperson and presidential candidate. We need to fight and stop being such wimps.

The man is approved by only 25% of the population. What are we waiting for?
