Something to consider for what happened with FISA
The bastards who stabbed us in the back today. The ones who are Blue Dogs have asterisks, those who are DLC have dollar signs.

So we have a grand total from that list of seven dems who are in neither group, but I think the point is made. To those who are talking about fuck the whole party, I think this proves that a VAST majority of the bastards who jumped ship are NOT the progressives we want fighting for us and do not identify as such. To those who think the Blue Dogs are a good idea and all that, consider the following:

There are 44 Blue Dogs in the House. 31 of them voted for this bill. What does that say about these guys aside from that they seem to have forgotten their oath is to the Constitution?

4. Exactly my point
We should be going after these mealy-mouthed people in the middle whose voting records and actions show to be the enemies of the people, not the easy targets everyone seems to be fond of shooting at these days (ie Pelosi)

3. It's been the Blue Dogs for years
Every now and again somebody makes the connection - but a few days later it's back to focusing on the DLC and nothing but the DLC.

Nothing is going to change until we have a strategy to get into those Blue Dog districts and Change Minds in order for the elected officials to Change Votes.

Oddly enough, this is one area where an effective grassroots is the only answer. And yet you can't get the grassroots to get moving on it.

6. Crawl Walk Run Fly....
So many overestimated last year's Democratic win...and now they're all upset cause the dream they had didn't turn out to be the reality.

Yes, Blue Dogs are not Progressive or Liberal...they never have been. Some are Repugnicans who crossed over for a better chance to get elected...other come from the old Dixiecrat roots of the party. It's not DLC...never has been. Some may be DLC, but that's more a byproduct of their backgrounds, not a cause of it.

Democrats have had to come back a great distance in the past decade...virtually rebuilding a party from scratch...and most of that "rebuilding" has come via netroots and other Progressive actions...but it's still not enough at this point that Progressives can control or push their agendas. The good news last year were that there are more Progressives in the House & Senate than in a long time...the bad news is there aren't enough.

Keep that list of spineless Democrats from last night handy...I'd like to find out how many have Progressive or netroot challengers and let this be a wake-up call as to how much work still lies ahead if we want a truely Progressive Democratic party.

Cheers...

7. We need a Night of the Long Knives
We have to do everything we can to knock every one of these bastards out in the primaries AND hold their seats, if nothing else than to send a message to the rest.

8. Being Jewish, I'll Pass On The Long Knives Thank-You
But I fully understand and agree with your main premise. I'm hoping these votes are yet another wake-up call here as to how much work still needs to be done in not only transforming the nation, but the Democratic party as well. Last night's vote all but assured I'll be donating money and time to work for a local Progressive challenger against my Democratic incumbent next year. It's painful to do this as I had such high hopes in '02 and '04...and while I'm glad to have 50% representation over the 0% I had with the old GOOP rep, now the time to kick it up to the next level and, where possible, if there are Progressive challengers to help them get funded and organized. Now is the time...find a candidate and make the next wave of change happen.

10. I worked so hard
But its clear now the hope for change was a trick.

Much of the base is still blindly loyal. There will be Republican cross-over to make up the difference. There truly is no hope, there is no way out for a decade.

11. Do it in the primaries first if possible
Easier to win with a Dem than with a third party challenger, try to win first there with said candidate in the primaries.

12. Not listed on their website list
But he IS a member of the Blue Dog House Caucus. I honestly wonder if those people should be part of the party at all with all the loyalty they give us.

14. The DLC does not list their members, what are they afraid of??
I went there last week looking for a members list.
It doesn't exist on their site. Are they ashamed of what the dlc stands for??
