Don't sit under the WHITES ONLY tree with anyone but me!
"The U.S. Attorney, Donald Washington, (African American male) stated that according to the investigation conducted by The Office of United States Attorney, a Noose is NOT a threat" - Tawanda Boatner, Louisiana NAACP Public Relations.

Please check out the new Justice for the Jena 6 site:
<http://jena6.vesana.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=8>

More from Ms. Boatner, "Dr. Ernest Johnson requested that another investigation be conducted regarding the Noose incident along with additional investigations regarding the LaSalle School Board System and the Office of District Attorneys in LaSalle Parish, Etc.

The NAACP is NOT satisfied with the first investigation and made it known that HATE CRIMES will NOT be tolerated.

...a Noose is beyond a threat, it was the means in which our people were lynched!"

If you can't be in Jena, Louisiana on September 20, 2007 to show support for the Jena 6.
Please consider showing solidarity in your hometown.
It's simple. Write "Justice for the Jena 6" on a poster and stand outside your door!

We need to shine the light on the failure of the Louisiana and the Department of Justice to protect the civil rights of these children.

5. Actually it was more than one noose.
Maybe if there had only been one, that would have been a threat?

7. I know.
I'm with you.
:)

I was just repeating for those who didn't know.
It is sick, sick, sick.
Did you know they have nominated Judge Southwick for 5th Circuit?
Yep, that's just what Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi need.
Someone with a little experience in racism.

3. Mr. Washington
Mr. Washington works for the "Community Relations" arm of the DOJ.
The CR of the DOJ comes in to keep us from rioting.
It does not investigate.
If the DOJ saw this as a hate crime they would investigate.
Please recommend the link.
Attention to this is needed.
Thanks for posting.

8. I wish they would change hate crimes to terrorism
These are acts of individual terrorism. Hate is a feeling and hard to prove. Terrorism is an act and much easier to pinpoint.
That whole Jena incident is an absolute disgrace to the US. It sounds so much like what what we used to hear on TV nightly in the 50s and 60s.
Is the MSM covering this at all?

10. Using that logic then the Jena 6 would be charged with terrorism/hate crime....
....yes the noose incident was beyond ignorant and racist and definitely...without question...fueled the hatred...but it was an individual white boy that was beaten almost to death by several black boys...there was enough hatred on both sides...one stupid act...which progressed to extreme violence...sadly this is being used to continue to divide a town and the masses who've seen this incident spread world wide in the media...pick/choose a side...either side though is based in HATE...guess no lesson in compassion was learned in the aftermath of Katrina and Rita down here...this pathetic situation proves it.

11. What?
I'm a sick and tired of people saying that protests and forums and rallies are ways that others use other people to divide communities.
BS.
Seriously.
You may not realize that your statement is derogatory, but it is.
It is also used by many to silence dissent.

We are not using "this" to continue to divide a town.

I live in Louisiana.
The towns are already divided.
Ividious discrimination is not based on hatred, it is based on ignorance.
White trees and white proms and white cemetaries and white YMCAs exist now and always have.

Speaking about a noose hanging in a tree and an acknowledgment that there is a "whites only" tree does not divide an already divided town.

We speak to educate; to shed light on the ignorant belief that it is okay to hange a noose - anywhere!

Should any child be beaten by any other child? No.
Should the system that allows this discrimination to continue be punished? Yes.

12. Awww, George Felix "Macacawitz" Allen must be thrilled by that ruling.
This seems incredibly excessive and blatantly unfair, what century is this, now?

Racial tension continued to mount in Jena, and the District Attorney did nothing in response to several egregious cases of violence and threats against black students. But when a white student--who had been a vocal supporter of the students who hung the nooses--taunted a black student, allegedly called several black students "nigger", and was beaten up by black students, six black students were charged with second-degree attempted murder. Last month, the first young man to be tried, Mychal Bell, was convicted. Later this month, he will be sentenced to up to 22 years in prison for a school fight.

17. And Jena was a stronghold of David Duke. Gave him 60 percent of its vote, according
to someone I heard on PBS Newshour. And since the town has a substantial African-American population, presumably none of whom would have voted for Duke, what do we conclude about white support for the KKK in Jena?
