Poll question: Over Six Months Into It, Do The Democrats In Congress (As A Group) Look Weak ???
There is no vote for "Other" here, the simple question is, do they LOOK WEAK??

20. All of them? Even the ones who voted the way we wanted them too?
Or perhaps just the blue dogs, the ones we elected in 2006 to get a majority?

Or is that not what you meant by the non-specific "they"?

They spend too much time telling America what Americans already know .....that ChuckleNutz is a Loser....instead of attacking the failures of conservative politics, leadership and the people who supported him; And also, by continuing to allow the republic minority publically define the debate without challenge.

Same way with Dem presidential candidates.
How many times has Romney or Guiliani said something about one of them personally without firing back?
Instead, it's the bloggers and the DUers who are fighting back harder than they are.

6. One of the top dem websites has a list of the accomplishments
that have been overlooked because they democrats could not get a stop the war bill pass and got blind sided by the blue dog democrats. The blue doggers who were following bush's orders. From now on the real democrats in congress are going to watch them and be sure they can override the turncoats.

And just how are they to corral the Blue Dogs???

If Nancy, or Steny, can't enforce party discipline at this point in history, then what did we win in 2006?

They should have developed a strategy for dealing with Blue Dogs last December, before they took control of Congress.

Edited on Mon Aug-06-07 09:38 PM by Zensea
That's about all that seems to go on here anymore.
I can understand wanting to attack Democrats but at a Democratic site it seems kind of odd.

hmm, think I'll start a thread about it

how many times they've giving us the shaft just so they score political points with the imaginary middle of the road voters or to avoid the wrath of O'Reilly, Limbaugh and co.

13. Jesus Christ On A Trailer Hitch !!! - Are You Kidding Me ???

Hey, if I'm a member of an afternoon softball league, and we start making obvious mistakes, then I'm gonna say something to the manager. I'm gonna suggest that if OUR GOAL IS TO WIN, then we might wanna make some changes in strategy, or maybe even personnel.

Same as if I were a CEO, a school teacher, firefighter, or a myriad of a thousand other instances.

What YOU take as bashing, I take as pushing. I wanna warn, push, cajole, possibly threaten with my vote... ANYTHING to get these idiots to think outside the beltway!

2008 was gonna be, and should be, a frigging cakewalk. But you know these un-american fucks (Republicans) are gonna play the fear card for the next year or so, and the administration is gonna help them in ANY way they can.

And come election time, I'm afraid that the American electorate will be once again convinced that the Democrats cannot be trusted with security, and the "tough" decisions.

My goal here is NOT to bash, but to gage if others are seeing what I'm seeing.

Edited on Mon Aug-06-07 10:00 PM by Zensea
hmmmm
Bash has a different connotation than attack even if it means something similar.
There's a difference between constructive criticism and attacking, or if you prefer, bashing.

Also, I was being relatively polite, you aren't.

32. Great picture...
and you're 100% correct. We can't pretend that it's all sunshine and f'ing rainbows. The senate might need 60 votes, but the House does not. Send up bill after bill and let the "do-nothing" gop senate minority take the blame for licking the boots of the current criminals in residence at 1600 PA Ave.

Nail THOSE bastards to the cross ... now is not the time to get all squishy and let the far right frame the debate for 2008.

36. I agree about this site attacking Dems.
I don't remember it being like this when I first joined about 10 yrs. ago.
Congress is on vacation now but usually they are on Cspan all day and into the night. I've tuned in as late as 11:00pm and they are still there. Sometimes it sounds like the 2 sides will come to blows. They don't get their way all the time but they do most of the time.

....we're now waiting to see how the 'reform republicans' remove the 'change' mantle from the Dems....

....the Dems don't know what to do with 'change' anyway and they certainly won't be able claim to represent it....

27. I Agree, But...
We pay attention here, This is what we do, it is our passion.

I spend many an hour at various watering-holes and almost NOBODY knows what I'm talking about when I bring up various things that concern us here at DU.

Thankfully most agree the GW is an idiot, and will be glad when he's gone. BUT... most do not see the Dems as any sort of salvation. I usually here that the Dems are just as corrupt, or are not significantly different from the rest of the political class.

Apparently, just as the Dems need to think outside the beltway, we need to think outside of the blogesphere.

These guys and gals literally are Joe Sixpack. And they vote.

They may have voted for change in 2006, but so far, they ain't impressed.

so that they could get their majority back.

Mission accomplished, I guess, if even those on our side agree about the "do nothing" Congress.

Not only do people in important demographics perceive that the party is weak (unassertive is a better word) and/or that the leadership lacks the will despite the harshest acts, but with every capitulation to bullies and irrational people, the perception gets reinforced.

If you've tried to get someone out of an abusive relationship (and watched them lose their friends- one by one) you'll know exactly what I mean.

Friends eventually get tired of what they see as a losing proposition- and start figuring that "there's not much more I can do." She or he is going to keep going back, irrespective of the consequences.

It's frustrating (and sometimes self defeating) deal.

44. Man... You Hit The Nail Squarely On The Head
My hope is that this August recess serves as an "intervention". That they all go home and get a good reaming, and spine stiffening, from their constituents. They need to see how mad their own supporters are.

And they need to do something about that.

Your analogy is spot on. And after a while, not only do you lose respect, but you can no longer bear to watch.
