Bridge Survivor Jailed for Abusing 2 yr old

I remember reading about this couple and maybe even seeing them on TV.

WASHBURN COUNTY – A Spooner couple heralded last week as lucky to be alive, may now face charges in the injury to the woman’s 2-year-old daughter.

Washburn County Sheriff Terry Dryden released a statement Monday saying that an investigation into the severe brain injury of Emmaline Manning, 2, has revealed that the concussion may not have been the result of an accidental fall down the stairs, as her mother, Crystal Manning, 21, and Manning’s fiancé, Michael Stoner, 26, originally told the media.

Emmaline was taken to Shell Lake Hospital Wednesday morning and later airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. Manning and Stoner were driving to be with the toddler when they were involved in the I-35W bridge collapse that killed five and injured 79.

They told reporters that their car was submerged and they swam to safety, retrieving Emmaline’s baby blanket from the water in the process.

3. Interesting how this comes out...

right after a major catastrophe where the State and Federal Government may be the targets of some very big lawsuits. I wonder how many other people who were injured or died in that bridge collapse will have something dug up.

4. If they abused the kid they deserve to be arrested

In the grand scheme of things this one couple's arrest will not make much of a dent in the lawsuits, and they can probably still sue. No tinfoil hat on this one for me.
