CEO of Murray Energy (mine collapse) bashes global warming discussion at presser
while families remain unclear if their loved ones are alive. WTF?

Sounds like a campaign speech. What an incredible lack of tact or sensitivity.

(CNN is covering the press briefing)

The truth and time are not on his side in this.

2. only in Utah could there be a press conference like this
I sympathize with the guy's stress right now, but this guy reminds me of the judge in the Anna Nicole case. It might be best if he hires a PR expert to handle the press from now on.

8. He's about to blow a gasket
He said the term "retreat mining" (where there are no supports brought into the mine to prop up the roof and walls, but that the coal itself is stacked to create pillars) was invented by the United Mine Workers. Then he said there's no "retreat mining" being engaged in inside his mine. But after that, he said the coal "pillars" (which could only refer to retreat mining) were already in place when the accident happened. He's accusing the UMW of inventing the term, but then he admits it was being done in his mine. Incredible.

This guy is the poster boy for the ugly lying Capitalist exploiter.

9. (1) He hates unions. (2) He wants people to think seismometers are precise.
(3) He has more than a tiny amount of megalomania ... and Nixonian levels of paranoia.

IMHO. YMMV.

13. What is it with mine owners. Remember Sago? These baracles
on the butt of humanity need to be sealed in one of their 'safe' mines.

14. Well, it's in Utah for chrissakes, figure it out.
They couldn't care less about the environment in Utah.

Geez, they had a nerve gas leak there almost 40 years ago and killed hundreds of sheep and yet you barely heard a peep about it on the news.

The Goshute Indian Skull Valley reservation has been used as a dumping ground for nuclear waste for the last several years.
