COLUMBUS, Ohio - The wife of Mayor Michael Coleman pleaded no contest on Tuesday to misdemeanor falsification and attempted theft in office charges.

Frankie Coleman was accused of getting paid for work she did not do at her state job and lying to investigators about it, 10TV's Kevin Landers reported.

Franklin County Municipal Court Judge Harland Hale sentenced Frankie Coleman to five years probation, 100 hours of community service and ordered her back to complete her alcohol rehabilitation stint. She also must pay a $500 fine. Both charges were punishable by a maximum of 180 days in jail and/or a $1,000 fine. Her husband accompanied her to court, Landers reported.

Frankie Coleman spoke in court and apologized to her family.

"I want to apologize for creating this problem, particularly for my family and myself," Coleman said. "I do have a problem with drinking. I am very proud of myself that I am working on it and successfully recovering from it."
