China's decreasing female population

but I don't think it has--women in India, where they also use abortion for gender selection (though it is now illegal, it still goes on), girl babies are still not considered as "good" as boy babies.

23. One area where it has helped women in China

is that the families that do have girls treat them very well. In the past, if a family had 10 kids - 5 boys and 5 girls, the 5 boys would get all the focus of the family for education, money for college, etc. (you have to pay to go to high school & lower schools in China)

Now, if a family has one child and it is a girl, the whole family will focus on that one child.

So, you will find a lot of professional career-oriented women in China that are in their 20s and 30s - doctors, scientists, engineers, rising business executives, etc. - that will not give up their careers when they have a baby. And, you'll also find that married men in China do a lot more housework than married men in the US (except men that have Chinese wives here...)

Just because there are fewer women doesn't mean they suddenly have a saying about what happens to them. I think quite the opposite.
The less women are around to more power is in male hands.

A relative shortage of females would have a greater impact on the population than a shortage of males would.
If there's only one woman in a village, the number of potential fathers doesn't matter, she's only going to have a limited amount of offspring.
If there's only one man in a village, with 30 women, he could be the father of 100+ children.

As despicable as the situation is in places like China, at least it's making a dent in population growth.

The speaker was talking about the shortage of eligible Chinese women, and that many Chinese men get mail-order brides from sotheast Asian countries.

Russia had many millions of women who were unable to find anyone to marry. Too many men had been killed by the Nazis in World War II.

They value their maleness so fucking much, let them wallow in a life without a partner now.

No pity from me, they deserve it for thinking so little of my gender that killing baby girls wasn't given a second though. Just females right? Not worth anything so why let them live?
