Pat Buchanan was guffawing over the fact the Dems were clamoring to impeach over wiretapping but now
they're voting in support of it. He couldn't stop laughing.

Ever feel like a horse's ass? I sure do... seems the Dems
can't do anything right.

4. That's exactly what the Dems are right now.
Pathetic and sickening.

And in violation of their oath of office. You know the one, where they're supposed to protect the Constitution, which in turn protects the American people?

Those willing to give up a little liberty for a little security deserve neither security nor liberty.

9. Perception becomes reality.
The perception is that the Dems caved again. Some did that is true but the majority of Dems voted "NO" on this shite.

16. Oh, stop making sense. Can't you see a serious "pile on" brewing here?
After "they're all alike" you will hear "there's no difference between the two parties."

The Agnewesque term "Nattering nabobs of negativity" might apply to the Sky is Falling/They ALL Suck crowd.

Same shit, different day--over and over again, it seems.

24. The Dem Candidates were all against the FISA revision
Or so they say now, so it isn't anti-Dem to make FISA a real bone of contention for those that voted these clowns into office that voted W's way: A real big ripping at your throat, caught sideways T-Bone.

30. Those clowns of which you speak , who voted for the bill, were a small minority.
And they're likely representing a predominantly "Reagan Democratic/GOP-Non Fundy" constituency.

They can get away with it. Which is why they did it. They aren't STUPID. They know what the traffic will bear, most of them, anyway, especially this close to an election. Some may have been coerced, but I'll bet most thought they could get away with it.

You're making it a 'bone of contention' like it matters. I've no doubt those guys would not have voted the way they did if they felt in the slightest threatened. That is a very good gig, the legislature, great salary, great health benefits.

The ones under the gun in that regard are the GOP legislators. A lot of them probably wanted to go the other way....but were not allowed.

We have meager footing from which to launch a humanity-based agenda and "clowns" voted to appease. And, if the mysterious Deep Throat poster is worth the time of day this could all be a trap anyway. Bush is so nefarious ( http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=103&topic_id=299682&mesg_id=299702). I can not see any good of not standing on principal against the regime. Unless, we are giving him enough rope...

28. The point is having a bullet proof one. Or just give up now, and cede it and gripe about it.
We went from having no majority and no voice to having a majority that could hold hearings.

Next step is a sufficient majority to exercise WILL.

Rome wasn't built in a day. I am not going to give up on our team early, like so many are willing to do.

Lead, follow...or gripe, I guess. But if you're in the griping column, get outta the way.

14. Why? because...
As long as they retain their seat in congress THEY don;t care..that's what REALLY matters..

The ONLY thing they care about is collecting more cash from lobbyists so they can stay on the merry-go-round and insure their family's future wealth..

Lobbyists give them "pay to play" money
They give the money to the "librul media" in the form of campaign commercials
We give them our votes
They stay in office
The lobbyists get "paid back" in the form of legislation they like

rinse & repeat..

If anything good for us happens in the meantime, it's purely an oversight in their eys and they will no doubt "fix" it when they get a chance..

It's about THEM...not us..

Even if we boot a few out of office, they only make MORE money by lobbying their former colleagues..

We are in a no-win situation here folks..

27. I was in a conversation with
someone about just that. The money. The argument was abouit running more progressiver candidates if we dont like what we have. So much easier said then done. Even someone like Lamont who had the funds couldn't win because of the lack of party support. He had the money, he had feet on the ground and phone banks, moveon but the DC dems wanted no part of him. How does the 'little guy' make it?

and you obviously have even worse problems with the evil Bush and Gonzo trampling on civil liberties, and the Dems obviously afraid of being portrayed as soft on terra.

But why care what Pat Buchanan thinks? He is evil too.

He's talking about them as if they were some kind of mass. The Blue Dogs were not clamoring for impeachment, I'm sure. And they're the ones voting for wiretapping.

We didn't give the leadership enough of a progressive presence to do what they need to do.

So I'll be watching at the 6 month mark to see how this mess is cleaned up.

Edited on Tue Aug-07-07 06:20 PM by SalmonChantedEvening
"It's Pat Buchanan, Murph, Pat Buchanan!"

Sure, these goofs, including my Senator, Casey, let me down BIG TIME on this. But the day I'll count on or demand party unity is the day I'll post on RU instead of DU.

Laughter from a man who still worships a fuck like Nixon is like speech therapy from Dumbya.

Meh. I dunno. I still fear that only a Titanic-like disaster will wake the populace into the demand we make daily.
