Right on Trevor Brown High School Students, Phoenix, AZ!
Edited on Tue Aug-07-07 08:58 PM by lonestarnot
Kick 'em where it counts!

From the AZ Republic. (AKA Repulsive) But they did a nice job on this.

About 2,200 district students opted out last year, Pletenik said. The
school with the highest opt-out rate was Trevor Browne High School, where
38 percent of the students asked to be removed from the list.

1. Good on 'em
More parents need to get with the opt out program. Thinkin too many still don't know what is happening.

Back to school time. Make sure and get the word out to parents that they have to be pro-active and opt out so recruiters can't court their kids behind their backs.

The war is going badly. Do you know where your kids are? Are they getting calls and visits, promises and pipe dreams from recruiters?

8. I don't envy parents of kids in school now. I do try to keep the opt out issue in view
I just hate knowing recruiters are going behind parents' backs at a time when kids generally do chaff a bit at parental supervision. It is really low, what they are allowing.

We all have to work hard to make sure ALL parents are as aware as you are. It is shameful how NCLB has made it open season on impressionable young people.

3. The greatest part of this is the neighborhood they are from.
It's not the greatest. It's not the 'hood by any means, but it's lower-income, hard-working families - you know, the ones the GOP loves to keep out of college. And, the ones the GOP loves to dangle the GI Bill and tuition in front of to persuade them to sign up.

Way to go, Trevor G. Browne HS!!

with the puglicons' kids were the easy pickings for recruiters, being so brainwashed with the puglicon puke and all, that we would put them on list first. I'm curious to see the reception of us at their schools.

7. Hmmm...good point.
But do the richie titsy actually enlist?? I'm not sure. I do have to think that a military recruiter is the lowest of the low. The psych games they play with these kids, when their lives are at stake, are sick.

Yeah, I'm sure the reaction at those schools will be interesting to say the least!

5. Same thing with Tolleson High
But damn! Reading the readers comments in the Arizona Republic is as scary as reading the comments in the Asheville Citizen Times.

Do only wingnuts write in newspapers comments sections?

6. It's commonly called The Arizona Republican.
So that might give you an idea of its readership.
