Preschoolers: McDonald's Food Is Best

CHICAGO -- Anything made by McDonald's tastes better, preschoolers said in a study that powerfully demonstrates how advertising can trick the taste buds of young children.

Even carrots, milk and apple juice tasted better to the kids when they were wrapped in the familiar packaging of the Golden Arches.

The study had youngsters sample identical McDonald's foods in name-brand and unmarked wrappers. The unmarked foods always lost the taste test.

"You see a McDonald's label and kids start salivating," said Diane Levin, a childhood development specialist who campaigns against advertising to kids. She had no role in the research.

Kaleen Moe of Provo has two preschool-aged children who know the McDonald's brand better than they know any other restaurant. When asked where they want to go, they say McDonald's.

"I think it's horrible that my children already know what it is," Moe said.

fucking sick, isn't it?

Damn, I like McDonald's...but I'm an adult, and can make choices for myself, and I know what the possible consequences are. This is so freaking wrong, what they are doing to kids...it's like they are Pavlov's dogs, and the Golden Arches is Pavlov's bell!!

6. I saw a similar story a few years ago, related to KFC.

Children would say, "I love eating there!"

Mom would say, we've never EVER eaten at a KFC, honey.


McDonalds is my only vice. Well, other than politics. But I don't drink alcohol, I don't smoke, don't do drugs, etc.

But once a week, I stop eating whole wheat bread and go to McDonalds for a burger and a coke.

Preschoolers don't have their own money. They can nag and nag and nag but ultimately the parents decide where they eat, what they wear and what toys they get.
