The number is shocking and sobering.

It is at least 10 times greater than most estimates cited in the US media, yet it is based on the only scientifically valid study of violent Iraqi deaths caused by the U.S.-led invasion of March 2003.

That study, published in prestigious medical journal The Lancet, estimated that over 600,000 Iraqis had been killed as a result of the invasion as of July 2006. Iraqis have continued to be killed since then. The graphic above (click the link up top) provides a rough daily update of this number based on a rate of increase derived from the Iraq Body Count. 2. Just think of the number of casualties. The ratio is usually 10:1 but even 5:1 means ....

... 5 million casualties. That's 20% of the Iraqi population! Then consider that 2 million Iraqis are refugees and another 2 million are displaced persons and the sheer, stunning scope of the decimation to a country with a population of 25 million begins to come into perspective. Let's remember that "decimation" is only 1 in 10 ... and we're approaching four times that level of carnage.

It's the most criminal global act of the last 35 years ... and arguably even 60 years. We're an outlaw nation.
