She was just on Jogn Elliott's show tonight and she's a very rational woman! GREAT for her and the State of Ca. that she decertified the damn voting machines. I can only hope the rest of the country follows Ca. on this one! Great for you Debbie!

2. I xan only hope someone in Ga. will respond to her bravery!
I hate to say it because I've always been a big supporter of technology but Ga was the first to go state wide with dibold and that was the year AH Chambliss won, even thoug all the polls indicated Clelland was way ahead!!!!!! Still po**es me off! I hope we can get a strong candidate to oust that
AH in 08!

3. Yes, this is really the only issue, and until we fix it, no other matter will be fixed.
The war will go on, the spying will go on, the thieving by the rich, the trampling on the Constitution, bill after bill that is anti-poor and anti-middle class, deregulation of our corporate rulers, deterioration of our infrastructure, rightwing corporate monopoly of our airwaves, assholes and criminals running the country, thieves, murderers, torturers--the steep dive to fascism will continue, until we restore TRANSPARENT vote counting.

The American people DO NOT CONSENT to this fascist Bushite regime and its Democratic collaborators. But our only real power is our vote and the collective will of the majority that is expressed by it. And they have taken that away. Elections run on 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming code, owned and controlled by rightwing Bushite corporations are not elections. They are tyranny. That's what we have.

So CA Secretary of State Debra Bowen and her strong actions to insure transparent vote counting--and similar efforts in other states and localities--are THE MOST IMPORTANT thing happening in our country. Our democracy lives or dies, depending on the success of the election reform movement.

Nothing else matters, because there is NOTHING we can DO about it all without the right to vote. Congress obviously owes its power to Diebold and ES&S, and not to us. That is why, with 70% of the American people opposed to the war on Iraq and wanting it ended, the so-called 'Democratic' Congress just ESCALATED the war and gave Bush and Cheney $100 BILLION more of our tax dollars to keep killing and torturing Iraqis until they sign over their oil rights. We vote and nothing happens. We have no say because they are FIDDLING these goddamned, extremely insecure and insider hackable voting machines to produce a fascist majority, whether it has an R by its name, or a D.

I think the American people will win, in the end, but we MUST fight to restore our right to vote as the crucial Step One on the road back to democracy. Congress is deaf. Bush and Cheney never did give a fuck what we think. But your local county registrar who bought these expensive riggable machines lives down the street. And your state capitol is not that far away. Ordinary people still have potentially great influence at the state/local level. That's where we must get this done.

----------------------------------

Throw Diebold, ES&S and all election theft machines into 'Boston Harbor' NOW!
