Young Republicans Head Resigns In Gay Sex Scandal
http://www.joemygod.blogspot.com/

Glenn Murphy, 33, the newly-elected chairman of the Young Republicans National Federation, who is well known for using the gay marriage issue to promote his candidates, has abruptly resigned amid allegations that he sexually assaulted a 22-year old man at the home of the man's sister. Murphy has already been scrubbed from the YRNF's website and their Wikipedia entry, which is now protected from edits. Jessica Colon is now listed as their chair. Murphy has also resigned as chair of Indiana's Clark County Republican Party.

Responding on the blog Taking Down Words, Murphy's lawyer contends that he has not been arrested or charged with any crime. According to the lawyer, Murphy says what happened was between "two consenting adults." Yet, the police report has already been leaked. Advance In Indiana reports...

In a shocking police report filed by the Clark Co. Sheriff's office, Murphy is accused of sexually assaulting another man on Saturday, July 28, 2007, while he lay sleeping in his bed. The alleged assault of the 22-year-old man took place in the Jeffersonville, Indiana home of his sister following a Young Republican party in which both Murphy and the 22-year-old man had been in attendance. The victim's sister had urged both men to spend the night at her home because of the amount of alcohol the two had consumed during the party. The victim awoke in the morning to find Murphy performing oral sex on him according to the report. When the victim asked Murphy what he was doing, he responded: "He was holding his dick with one hand and sucking my dick with his mouth." The victim then pushed Murphy away, gathered his personal belongings and left. Murphy was later confronted with the charges by the victim's sister according to the report. The sister says Murphy admitted to her that he performed the sex act on her brother. Taking Down Words reports Murphy is being charged with criminal deviate conduct, a Class B felony. The police report also notes that Murphy was accused of committing a very similar act on another man back in 1998. It is unclear why Murphy was not prosecuted for the 1998 incident.

30. I was just wondering that very thing.
It sure seems like every Republican wacko who fulminates about gays and "saving marriage" is actually gay or perverted, or both, himself.

The right-wing neurosis regarding sex is something for the Abnormal Psychology scholars to study. The pattern seems very clear to me.

Someone ought to email this and the GOP pedophile and adulters hall of shame list to the FRC

FRC refers to the Family Research Council.

This fellow merely had invaded someone in the style of George W Bush invading Iraq.

The invader had weapons of mass dick suction LOL

they've edited the Young republicans page on wikipedia to remove him (though somebody put it back) and they're pulling youtube videos of him:

S/he keeps scrubbing all references to Glenn Murphy. Even people are getting pissed off with Concerned2030 by saying they'll report her/him for vandalism.

Bill Clinton got a BJ and the Republicans couldn't stop talking about it, and once they've got a sex scandal on their hands they either say they're a Democrat (Mark Foley) or pretend they didn't exist (Glenn Murphy).

83. like I said earlier,
Keith needs to do an hour long story asking why so many political insiders are doing this, and of course, bring up their party as he does it. We've all faced temptation, I know I have, but I stopped short of being so brazenly intrusive as to orally-rape a sleeping man they barely knew, my goodness! Not saying people don't make mistakes, but this is a huge pattern with them. Your reminder of the other story, and watching that video about the young chickenhawk republicans talking about why they didn't go to fight for the USA, then it branches off into sexuality and that one gay guy who said he's prayed to Jesus and now he knows he's "not gay", was so sadly hysterical of the people we see in their young republican group - what a bunch a weirdos!

34. Also important
My company bid on a very large project more than a year ago. It was a job that I thought I would never get in a million years - one that could transform my company and do in one year what I could ordinarily do in five. Well, I got the job Friday.

Unfortunately, there was one major catch. Due to the nature of the client and a stipulation in the contract, I couldn't hold any official partisan positions, but I couldn't hold a Republican post myself. It was perfect timing for the County Chairmanship that I was transitioning out of anyway, but terrible timing for my volunteer Young Republican position that I had just worked so hard to achieve.

My family sat down with me Saturday evening to look at things from every angle. We determined that if I didn't take the job, there could potentially never be that type of opportunity again and I would be shorting the security of my future and the future of my family. I prayed with my family, and we determined that I have to take this opportunity for my long-term security.

I signed my new client contracts yesterday
---------
Is this a County contract?

98. From the above link:
"At Indiana University, he majored in journalism and joined the College Democrats. But he soon realized that the Republican Party’s values were more in line with his own and promptly joined the College Republicans." "Parties and their names change, but your values will always remain the same," he said. "You have to remain true to your values."

<snip>

When he was elected president of the YRs last month, he told his hometown newspaper, “I will essentially be the mouthpiece and effective leader for the tens of thousands of Young Republicans, 18 to 40, across the country.”

Mouthpiece. I'm sure.

Blame your adversary with having your own negative traits. We see it time and time again with the Republicans. A recent example is the claim that Democrats "don't support the troops" yet Republicans vote down finding a way out of Iraq and vote down breaks between deployments.

70. Tightwad. This guy wasn't even willing to pay $20
when he thought he could get off for free.

You know what Allen's excuse would have been in this situation? He got lost looking for a bathroom (didn't know where the local park was) and he fell on to the guy's penis by accident while looking for it (a bathroom that is) and was using his penis to steady himself while got back on his feet. The repeated up and down motion on the young man's penis was caused by Allen's failure to steady himself right-away.

In other words, Allen would claim, he fell and couldn't get up. And he wasn't spanking his monkey, he was just trying to activate his "clap-on, clap-off" technique.

That guy was sexual assaulted by Murphy and for some reason a lot of people in this thread find it something to make jokes about. Apparantly, some people here believe that sexual assault by a man upon another man is cause for hilarity. Frankly, I find it sickening.

67. Sexual assault is NOT a gay sex scandal
The victim happened to be the same gender. The means of attack happened to be sexual. Sexual assault is rarely about gratifying sexual urges, rather it about getting a sexual kick from forcing others to submit - the "sexual" nature of assault is just the weapon of choice. Labeling it as a "gay sex scandal" contributes to the massive sense of shame many survivors of sexual assault already feel.

Regardless of the gender of the victim, sexual assault is not consistent with the kinds of values Murphy was almost certainly espousing (along with his anti-gay rhetoric).

73. So Torn Here...
My first reaction reading through these posts was to be genuinely disturbed by the amount of ingrained anti-gay rhetoric in so many of them. I know they're not consciously attacking all homosexuals, just this closeted Republican piece of shit (for whom I have no sympathy), but the posts still smart. I want people to celebrate this asshole's disgrace and do it without resorting to gay jokes. However, I HATE it when people won't allow other people to use humor to express their feelings, ESPECIALLY non-PC humor, which is generally the most honest. I think we're going to have to allow the people to have their say, and just try to remember that they're not attacking US, they're attacking one criminal hypocrite who deserves whatever he gets.

96. Although I don't like gay bashing
and there is far too much (generally unintentional) gay bashing on DU.

In this instance, I was commenting on the labeling a sexual assault a sex scandal. A "sex scandal" implies that the parties to the activity were doing something scandalous. The victim/survivor of this attack did nothing scandalous - and had no choice. He shouldn't be swept up in the allegations either of participating in a scandal or of being a hypocrite.

Its just as much hypocrisy for someone to touts traditional family values to rape someone as it is for that person to engage in (consensual) sexual activity - and what he did in this case was assault someone. Bash him for that hypocrisy - but please don't equate rape with consensual sexual activity (gay or straight).

122. Totally agree. He VIOLATED another (much younger) man.
It's not a "gay sex scandal." It's a sexual assault and he should be punished just like any other offender. It will be interesting to see how this is prosecuted and if the fact that the victim is of the same gender as the offender plays a role in how much time this moron gets.

Snelling said Murphy's positive message and purpose-driven action will help transform the national Young Republicans. "With an eye for media and a mind for strategy, Glenn took a county that had zero elected Republicans and worked it into a county that consistently votes Republican," Snelling said. "He elected the first Republican County Councilman in the history of the county, took us from zero to 23 seats in six years, and helped us elect our first Republican Congressman in 42 years. He built clubs and increased membership in the Indiana Young Republicans, taking the organization to new heights of growth and professionalism.

Ohio Pushes Team Murphy Above 500!
Tuesday, May 1. 2007

PAINESVILLE, OH - The Ohio Young Republicans have voted to endorse the entire Team Murphy slate, pushing the Murphy endorsement count to 521 for the YRNF election in July. Ohio, one of the nation's largest delegations, has 43 votes. .....

http://72.14.253.104/search?q=cache:q5_F6kAhyc4J:www.teammurphy.org/archives/43-Maine-Unanimously-Endorses-Team-Murphy!.html+Glenn+Murphy+republican&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=5&gl=us

The Maine Federation of Young Republicans unanimously endorsed Team Murphy this weekend for YRNF leadership. The executive committee noted that all 8 delegate spots would go to Team Murphy supporters.

Maine YR State Chairman Kerry Sullivan said, "The Maine YRs have a lot of talent and we need strong leadership in the YRNF for the MFYR to reach it's highest potential. As the MFYR State Chairman, I want the best for our Federation and Glenn Murphy has shown enthusiasm for working not just with the MFYR but also with the leaders of the Maine Republican Party. Glenn Murphy and the Team Murphy candidates have a proven track record -- a track record that I want the MFYR to emulate. We have a lot of blue counties that need to be turned red and the expertise of Team Murphy is going to help us do that. I am pleased and excited that the MFYR Board has voted unanimously to endorse Glenn Murphy and all the Team Murphy candidates."

Maine Republican State Party Political Director Dan Schuberth said, "Glenn Murphy took the time to travel to Maine and meet with the leadership of the Maine Republican Party. I appreciated Glenn's ideas for improving the Young Republican organization here in Maine, and I believe he is the candidate best suited to support the Maine Republican Party. I am proud to offer Glenn my personal support, and I look forward to working with him during his term as National Chairman."
Maine State Representative and MFYR National Committeeman John C. Robinson said, "As an elected official and young Republican, I am very proud of Glenn Murphy's national leadership. Glenn will be a tremendous advocate for Republican principles. I'm proud to put my support behind Glenn Murphy for YRNF Chair."

MFYR National Committeewoman Allison Geagan said, "Glenn Murphy and his team of leadership have the energy and experience to take the YRNF to the next level and I am honored to give them my endorsement of support."

MFYR Vice Chairman Jim Fossel said, "I recently had the pleasure of meeting Glenn in Maine and talking with him about the future of our state, our organization, and our party. It's clear to me that he has the enthusiasm and the experience to lead the Young Republicans. I know he's the candidate who cares about what I care about - regaining our Republican majority not just in Congress, but in state legislatures, city councils, and school boards nationwide. Working together with Glenn and his team, I'm confident that the Maine Federation of Young Republicans can help the Maine GOP take back the Legislature, re- elect Susan Collins, and send two more Republicans to Congress representing the Pine Tree State."

Kate Carter, MFYR Secretary and Hancock County Young Republican Vice Chairman, said, "By traveling here Glenn got an up front look at just how hard the Maine Young Republicans are working. I feel like we can trust Glenn to support us as we build our state and local organization."

Natalie Hoppel, MFYR Treasurer, said, "Glenn brings solid leadership skills to the office of YRNF Chairman. His commitment and dedication to growing the YNRF is evidenced by his willingness to travel to both small and large states to rally members."

Chairman Candidate Glenn Murphy (IN) thanked the Maine Young Republicans for their kindness and hard work.

"First I want to thank State Chairman Kerry Sullivan for driving me all over New England," Murphy said. "The generosity and enthusiasm of all of the Maine Young Republicans was truly impressive. They are one of the few states in the nation where young people voted more Republican than their older counterparts in 2006. We need to build on that, build on their excellent working relationship with the State Party and build a force to turn Maine red in 2008."

Northeast Region Vice Chair Candidate Lindsay Pfister (PA) said, "We enthusiastically welcome Maine to the Team Murphy family. Young Republicans from coast to coast are lining up to support the positive message and proven experience that Team Murphy offers."

Vice Chair At-Large Candidate Clay Barclay (AL) said, "I'm thrilled at the level of support coming out of New England. We have support in every region because we work to understand every region. We work to understand the unique dynamic of each state party and each Young Republican federation. We look forward to working from Maine to California, from Puerto Rico to Alaska for the 2008 elections."

Arkansas YRs Endorse Team Murphy for National YR Leadership
January 15, 2007

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Arkansas Young Republican (YR) Federation has endorsed the "Team Murphy" slate of candidates for leadership of the Young Republican National Federation, Arkansas YR State Chairman Leslie Rutledge announced today.
Rutledge said that the Arkansas YRs would throw their full support behind Glenn Murphy of Indiana for Chairman, Jessica Colón of Texas for Co-Chairman and Clay Barclay of Alabama for Vice Chairman At-Large and their national leadership team.

"Glenn Murphy has proven that he has the leadership ability, the political acumen and the energy to strengthen the organization at the national level, which is why Arkansas Young Republicans are proud to stand with him,” Rutledge said. "Particularly after the difficult political terrain that the GOP experienced in the November elections nationwide, now is the time for vigorous leadership from Young Republicans to recruit strong candidates and energize the grassroots for 2008. We believe Glenn Murphy and his team can provide that leadership."

Yolanda Hugg, National Committeewoman for the Arkansas YRs, noted that Murphy has already proven his leadership skills with a series of political successes in his home state of Indiana.

"Glenn understands the importance of organizing from the ground up to win elections, as he has shown in Indiana," Hugg said. "We want to ensure that Republicans nationwide are committed to victory in 2008, and Young Republicans will play a vital role in that victory."

Murphy with his local Young Republicans are widely credited for turning the tide in one of Indiana's largest counties. Murphy, as the County Party Chairman, helped change a county that had not voted Republican in more than 100 years to a competitive county that consistently votes Republican. With Murphy's leadership and the Young Republicans, they also helped win their Congressional seat for the GOP for the first time in 42 years.

YRNF Co-Chairman Candidate Jessica Colón (TX) thanked the Arkansas YRs for their endorsement.

"This kind of early support is helping Team Murphy build incredible momentum as we head into the July Convention," Colón said. "We can't thank the Arkansas YRs enough for their confidence in our ability to lead this organization." .....

Hoosier Elected National YR Secretary
LAS VEGAS (July 14, 2005) -- Indiana Young Republican Chairman and Clark County Republican Chairman Glenn Murphy of Utica was elected National Secretary of the Young Republican National Federation this week.

More than 600 delegates from across the country gathered at the Young Republican National Convention in Las Vegas to elect leadership of the nation's oldest and well-known political organizations. The Young Republican National Federation (YRNF) is the nation's premier political group for voters 18-40.

"It is an honor and a privilege to lead in one of the highest offices of this amazing Republican organization," Murphy said. "And it is truly humbling that so many people from Indiana and across the United States lent me their support."

Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita traveled to Las Vegas to deliver Murphy's nominating speech. Rokita said on the floor of the convention, "Without Glenn Murphy, Jr. and the Young Republicans I wouldn't be Secretary of State. The Young Republican National Federation needs Glenn Murphy's leadership."

Murphy, 31, is the President of December Media, an advertising and media consulting firm near Louisville, KY. He also serves as the Secretary of the Ninth District Republican Party.
Murphy added one point for his Democrat admirer's at home.

"I keep getting asked by my Democrat friends if my new position will force me to move to Washington, DC," Murphy said. "They will be sad to find out that I plan on staying right here in Indiana to annoy my liberal friends both at home and abroad."

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING IN KANSAS

Shawn Cowing, Kansas Young Republican State Chairman Emeritus - "The State of Kansas is excited to express our support for Team Murphy. Kansas was extremely happy to have member candidates from both campaigns travel to our state and express their visions for the future of our YRNF organization. In the end, Kansas believes that Team Murphy has the necessary vision and experience to continue the great strides that have been made over the last two years. These next two years will be critical for the success of our organization, as we enter into a critical Presidential election cycle, and Team Murphy will provide the leadership to make our organization stand above the rest."

...............

California Young Republican State Chairman Catherine Brinkman said the CYRs had already endorsed Glenn Murphy (IN) for Chairman, and the new CYR endorsement extended support to his entire team. California will bring a full delegation to the July Convention in Florida.

"Glenn has put together a phenomenal lineup of young Republican leaders who represent all areas of the United States," Brinkman said. "This is truly, a uniting ticket for the YRNF. This ticket offers something which we can build from, as Chairman Ambrose continues to create a strong foundation during her term. In politics we need volunteers who give of their time and resources. Those are the components that make up grassroots activism. All of the candidates that are on Team Murphy have done just that. This is an extraordinary group of people who truly care about moving the Republican Party forward and getting the next generation involved today. California's delegation is proud to have all of their votes behind each and every member of Team Murphy. It is an honor to unanimously endorse Team Murphy in the 2007 YRNF election."

Zack Scrivner (CA), YRNF Vice Chair At-large, said, "The YRNF has made great strides over the last two years and we can trust Team Murphy to continue to work hard for a better YRNF, and a better America."

..................

Arkansas Young Republican State Chairman Leslie Rutledge officially joined Team Murphy today as their candidate for Auditor of the Young Republican National Federation.

"I am honored to be a member of Team Murphy as candidate for Auditor," Rutledge said. "Glenn and members of Team Murphy have proven that they possess the leadership ability, the political acumen and the energy to strengthen the organization at the national level. After the 2006 election cycle, it is imperative that the Young Republican National Federation moves forward with strong leaders who vigorously recruit strong candidates and energize grassroots efforts across the nation.

Murphy's County Wins Republican Party of the Year!
Tuesday, March 13. 2007
Glenn Murphy (IN), Chairman of the Clark County Indiana Republican Party and candidate for YRNF Chairman, accepted the "Outstanding Republican Party of the Year Award" from the Indiana Republican State Party at their most recent state board meeting. Only five of 92 county parties in Indiana received this high distinction.

Republican leaders in Indiana praised Murphy's work as a grassroots GOP Chairman.

Indiana Republican Party State Chairman Murray Clark said, "The organization Glenn has built in Clark County serves as a model for every county in Indiana. Despite a tough election season across the country, he orchestrated the elections of nine new Republican office holders in Clark County. The County now boasts 23 elected Republicans. Before Glenn Murphy’s team took leadership, there were zero. He is without a doubt one of our Party’s brightest young leaders."

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels said, "Glenn Murphy is one of the most well-respected Republican leaders in Indiana. His media savvy and grassroots skills helped transform Southeast Indiana from a Democrat stronghold to a Republican growth area. He shoots for the 'impossible', and more often than not, he succeeds. I wholeheartedly endorse Glenn Murphy for Chairman of the Young Republican National Federation and his team for national leadership."

Daniels also served as OMB Director for President George W. Bush and Senior Advisor to President Ronald Reagan.

........................

"Team Murphy has treated Young Republican State Chairmen with the courtesy and respect they deserve. They understand that the strength of the national federation is directly tied to the strength of individulal state clubs and their local chapters," Brinkman said. "I have been impressed with Team Murphy's experience and grassroots know-how. They know how to build coalitions and bring people together. That's what we need for the Young Republican National Federation and that's what we need for the State Chairman's Association."

..........

The Colorado Federation of Young Republicans executive committee has unanimously endorsed Team Murphy for YRNF leadership. The Colorado YRs are reviewing their state bylaws to implement a unit rule provision.

Colorado YR State Chairman Luke Shilts said, "The year 2007 will be a unique opportunity for the YRNF. The organization has the opportunity to make a real impact nationwide, should we decide to take the lead. Team Murphy has the skill and enthusiasm necessary to lead the YRNF now. We can hit the ground running with this team, as leadership and experience are visible realities. The Colorado Federation of Young Republicans has recognized this, and supports Team Murphy in their 2007 endeavor."
