gingrich STILL threatening to run for president.
http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/gingrich-its-not-too-late-to-jump-in-2007-08-08.html

He called the current political environment “consultant-driven” and contended that for the average American, the race doesn’t begin until after Christmas.

“ I think it is proven I’m candidate material,” he said when asked if he could organize a campaign quickly to compete in states with early primaries.

Of the GOP candidates, Gingrich cited four as “serious”: former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Sen. Fred Thompson (Tenn.), who is expected to announce his candidacy in early September.

He called Huckabee an “interesting dark horse” with a message that is starting to resonate.

What would an old John Wayne western be without newt 'Gabby Hayes' gingrich there for the comedy relief?

1. If Newt becomes Prez
we'll all have to drop less 'cancer spreading in America' lines, or he's liable to serve us resignation (divorce) papers on our deathbed and run off with some . . . younger . . . democracy. >snif!<

2. I has been my prediction for over a year that he will be the Republican's Nominee

And I'm sticking to it.

He's their best hope.

5. Newt wants the VP spot.
He knows, from participating in Cheney's OVP, where the real power is.

8. He may say that,
for political reasons, but that is not accurate. I know, I know: how can anyone accuse Newt of lying?

When Cheney and Libby made their frequent trips to the CIA HQs to pressure the WMD analysts, Newt came along on several of the most important trips. In the spring of 2003, when the first meeting to address the "Wilson problem" took place in VP Cheney's office, Newt and Scooter led the show. Unlike many of the "official" members of the administration, who made up the WHIG, Newt had no official role, but served in a position that coordinated the WHIG and OSP. He has been one of Cheney's top co-workers.

7. "Threatening" is the right word!
"Either accede to my list of demands or I will run for president!"

9. I think Newt has an ok chance
And he's already moving away from the President. I don't think he'll be much better (if I had to guess I'd say he would be minimally better, but not much), but if he can hold on to the base and if Thompson peaks to soon than he has a shot.

On the other hand if it's Clinton vs. Newt, I suspect she'd pummel him good.
