I just gave my wife my last forty dollars, that and an over drawn bank account will get her into the
on a sliding fee. It was 45.00 to get into the clinic, she's trying to get the sliding fee lowered so we won't have to pay back next pay period. If we weren't throwing away 500 billion dollars in Iraq we could have health coverage and people wouldn't have to scared to go to the doctor because of the money. I hate these muthers.

5. I'm just getting over it, three and a half weeks. Still coughing, upped the
vitamins and lots of sleep. Like you, I have limited resources and "taking good care" of oneself is primo. Hope she feels better soon.

8. Good Luck cat, at least you have a clinic
I busted my foot big time a few years ago and my choices were to spend a few grand or do some research and treat it myself. Most medical facilities charge those without insurance up the wazoo, I wasn't going to waste my money on that. I've been dealing with a sinus infection by doing a saline wash rather than paying for some antibiotic. It might be uncomfortable as hell, but it cost's me almost nothing.

I spent decades supporting medical professionals so I don't have anything against them. The system is rigged. We and the medical professionals are both victims.

9. It's sad, isn 't it?
Even some of us who have insurance don't go to the doctor because we have such a high deductible. Hope your wife is okay.

11. Me too, Cat.
It's sickening ( no pun intended) that we are the ONLY
industrialized nation without Universal Healthcare.

I hope your wife gets the care she needs.
A bad flu needs attention, now.

If you saw the Dem. candidate debate last night, there
was a retired steel worker with the same problem.

In a voice cracking with emotion and stress, he described
not being able to pay for his wife's healthcare because of
major cuts to his retirement benefits.
" After 30 years of devotion to me, I can't pay for her healthcare!".
He had disabilities, himself.

I starting crying before he ended his comment, and when he
sat down, the entire crowd ( AFL-CIO) was on its feet, clapping.

God, what a fuc*ing mess our country is in!

We need change and we need it now.

Again, best wishes for your wife.

:hi:

12. That was quite a moment. A real person got a word in edgewise.
That steel worker's story and Cat's are the stories that Washington can't hear because no lobbyist tells them. People are fed up.

14. I just found the video of the steel worker
asking Edwards his question on our frontpage.
It was just added!

He speaks for many, many people.

15. If we could harness the power of the emotion in that room
there would be no stopping, we could set this country right in no time.

Good news and bad. The good they lowered the ante price to 35.00, the nedicine only cost four. It's a bacterial infection and in a few days she ought to be her old self.
The bad news I'm broke till the first now.
