1. Yes it is - 6:30 eastern time
Hopefully the networks will carry it live. School Teacher Barbara Morgan (Christie McCaullife's backup) will be aboard. I met MS Morgan a couple of years ago when she visited Stennis Space Center In Mississippi, a very nice person.

Nothing beats launching 30 year old technology into near Earth orbit where it will do basically no science. The shuttle services the international space station, the international space stations job is to have something that can be serviced by the shuttle... hmm.
