Corruption in Washington and Iraq has dulled people to local corruption
I was just reading an article online from our local paper that commented on a series of articles of misuse of tax dollars and corruption by our city officials, mainly our young republican mayor who is planning on increasing taxes but cutting back on services like fire and police protection, after school and social programs to the poor. "These programs must all be cut or eliminated" he or his mouth pieces say while they're subsidizing the local football team, giving no bid contracts to family friends and running a city equestrian center for all his out of town friends. I've been there doing work for the city and you don't see any local license plates there.
Two or three million dollars wasted, lost or just plain given away these days doesn't seem to phase people anymore as they see billions and trillions of dollars wasted in Iraq and bridges to nowhere.

1. I guess people are adapting...
that meme about all politicians being corrupt may have finally made it to the status of self-fulfilling prophecy.

Fantastic.

3. Definitely self-fulfilling
Apparently people think that if everyone is corrupt then there is no corruption. As a result the few remaining honest people are left out of the system.
