1. It's under investigation.
I believe there possibly was one on Long Island this summer, as well.

Landed two blocks from my house! I posted pics at http://www.blah3.com/article.php?story=20070718131828388

They did verify that the one in my neighborhood was a tornado. All it did was rip up a few trees - we're lucky no one got hurt, as my neighborhood is pretty densely populated.

3. I heard a woman was killed...
and MSNBC showed footage of ripped-up roofs... NOT your average storm.

10. They've been hit hard all year...
Some of the folks in our NYC office have a very long commute, and hour or more in trains and subways... It's been rough.

But that global warming stuff is all myth, right? Ugh.

12. Maybe she's contemplating the
reality of climate change.

A beautiful pix

New York will be New Orleans if a hurricane ever hits them.

5. Thinking of those in Brooklyn
The Pacific Northwest had a Cat 3 hurricane last December, which is still being publicly discussed as a "windstorm". This is straight from internal comments within the local power company.

Just remember, there's no such thing as global warming.

IMHO, YMMV,

14. Who should I believe
Murray the mine owner, or Al Gore and the scientists?
Sorry Murray the scumbag, I'm still rational.

7. The woman who was killed was killed in a car accident...
... during the storm.

And I would bet 10 to 1 odds that the "possible tornado" is going to end up being a microburst.
