John Fogerty has taken multiple swipes at President George W. Bush on his upcoming album

John Fogerty has taken multiple swipes at President George W. Bush on his upcoming album Revival, which will be out on October 2nd.

Fogerty spoke about his disdain for the Bush administration to straight.com, and was asked if he believed that with the way the war in Iraq is going, whether he could foresee the draft being reinstated. Fogerty said, "Put it this way, if the Republicans were somehow able to hang on to the administration past the next election, there's no telling what they're capable of. I just hope and pray that doesn't happen... Those people are not nice people."

When Fogerty was reminded that the President has Fogerty's 1985's hit "Centerfield" on his iPod, he responded by saying, "That's a little ironic. I wish he'd listen a little more to the rest of my catalogue."

There are several swipes at the President on the new album, but his main attack is in the album's song "I Can't Take It No More," an almost punk rocker, which recalls the Ramones and Social Distortion as much as it does Creedence Clearwater Revival.

In the song "I Can't Take It No More" Fogerty sings:

You know you lied about the casualties
You know you lied about the WFD's
You know you lied about the detainees
All over this world
Stop talkin' 'bout stayin' the course
You keep a-beatin' that old dead horse
You know you lied about how we went to war
I can't take it no more
I bet you never saw the old school yard
I bet you never saw the National Guard
Your daddy wrote a check and there you are
Another fortunate son
I can't take it no more
I'm sick and tired of your dirty little war
I can't take it no more

Although Fogerty performs most of CCR's classic hits in his live shows, he feels it's important to keep creating and releasing new music: "I sure don't wanna be a retro person at all. I get real uncomfortable -- you know, that's one of the reasons I never wanted to tour under the name Creedence Clearwater whatever. Those days are long, long gone, and I'm just too current and competitive. I mean, I have things to do now."

14. Fortunate son who never deserved it
WFD's? shouldn't that be WMDs? Unless Fogerty has something else in mind.

"You know you lied about the WMDs" seems to work though.
