DU will get over its anger at Reid and Pelosi…. |
|
You see, we have to. There’s no other choice. The “center’ of US politics is defined by the Corporate Media. As the center moves farther and farther to the Right, the Democratic Party will follow.
And you, my dear DU, will be taken for granted. All a Democratic politician needs to do is take positions somewhat to the Left of the Republican candidate. Then, come Election Day, what can you do?
1.) Vote Democratic 2.) Vote Republican 3.) Vote Third Party 4.) Stay home.
Voting for a Third Party is a long-term exercise. You hope that in 10 to 20 years, you’ll build a viable entity. But with the country plunging into Fascism at breakneck speed, do we have that time? No, all we can hope for is to slow the descent.
Kinda like being trapped with an abusive husband and no independent means of support. As long as he doesn’t beat on you and the kids too often, you stay. Sucks, but that’s reality.

2. work to reclaim the democratic party from the "centrist" corporatists |
|
Keep fighting the good fight, let Reid and Pelosi know when they screw up and IF we can't salvage the democratic party then it will be time for me to find a third party to support. I'm not ready to give up yet, however. And I am not ready to "get over it" when the Dems in congress cave to bush on fisa and sell us out by funding the war.

3. I'm not angry at Dem leadership (any more). |
|
It's just not my job to agree with them mindlessly.
It's my responsibility to assert my needs and values.

You forgot option 5:
Vote for the Democratic primary challenger instead of whom the local bigwigs tell you to vote for.
The real contest will be during the primary elections, not the November general election. It will determine what kind of Democrats we run against the Repukes.

6. I always do. But, strangely, the media always marks my primary choices... |
|
as 'unelectable'. And the Republican vote counting machine (yes, it's the very same one that counts the votes in November) never gives my candidates more than 15% of the vote.
Real or Memorex? The effect of biased media or a crooked count? Who can tell.

Maybe sleeping in the shelter for abused Democrats won't be so bad after all....
