Romney has a little geography glitch

A woman raised her hand. "Yes, please!" Romney said.

"How many counties are in Massachusetts?" she asked.

"Thirteen," he said. A few feet away, an aide shook his head and said, "Ten."

"Oh, no, I think it's 13," Romney said. "Not like your 99."

He paused for a moment. "Yeah, if you count Dukes County ... " he trailed off. "So, anyway, we have very, very few."

"Ninety-nine counties," Romney said, apparently hoping to change the subject, "Why didn't you get to 100?"

The crowd laughed good-naturedly.

A spokesman for Romney said he shortly thereafter, "corrected the record" to the right number of 14.

This is about the state he quite being the governor of in January. So glad he's not my governor anymore!!

2. He didn't spend enough time here to know.
He was too busy criss crossing the country on his "Trash The State I Govern Tour".

So glad Mittens is gone. Just hope the rest of the country isn't stupid enough to elect him.

8. I thought it was 14 (I've done research using counties).
But counties are not as important in New England as in the rest of the country.

But anything to dis Romney.

10. It is 14, with a Bonds-like *
http://www.mass.gov/?pageID=mg2subtopic&L=4&L0=Home&L1=State+Government&L2=County+Government&L3=Counties&sid=massgov2

eight of the 14 have been abolished as actual governmental entities. Confused? Two of these eight have "councils of governments" with the various towns as members. Throughout New England, most local government takes place at the town rather than the county level; Conn. counties have only civil sheriffs.

So the Ken Doll was actually closer than the aide who tried to correct him, like Dan Quayle "correcting" the schoolboy about "potatoe"...
