It Seems To Me a Pattern Is Developing
It's no wonder conservative Republicans are so afraid of homosexuals. It seems they're always on the prowl to entrap innocent culture warriors into illicit relationships. Over across the river from Louisville, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, we have the tale of another conservative Republican lured to the dark side. According to the Jefferson News and Tribune:
The chairman of the Clark County Republican Party — who last month was elected president of the Young Republican National Federation — has resigned both posts, apparently in the wake of a criminal investigation...The Clark County Sheriff’s Department on Friday began investigating Murphy for alleged criminal deviate conduct — potentially a class B felony — after speaking with a 22-year-old man who claimed that on July 31, (Glenn Murphy Jr.) performed an unwanted sex act on him while the man slept in a relative’s Jeffersonville home.
Then there's this from the Louisville Courier-Journal:
According to the sheriff's report, the incident occurred July 29 after a Young Republicans party at a home in Jeffersonville. Several people, including Murphy and the alleged male victim, had been drinking and had been advised to sleep at the home, the report said.
It also said that the alleged victim told an investigator that he was contacted later by Wilder and was asked "what he wanted in order to resolve this situation."
Southern Indiana is a homeland of the most conservative wing of the Republican Party, an adamantly anti-gay enclave that believes school prayer to be the only solution for homosexuality, Hollywood movies and rap music. While I know nothing of Mr. Murphy's politics, it seems unlikely to me that he could have thrived as a Republican in Southern Indiana had he not loudly professed his disdain for liberal heresy, including gay rights.
Murphy contends he is innocent, that the sexual act was consensual -- which may well be the case, but doesn't do a lot to disprove the pathological self-hatred and hypocrisy of the most homophobic among us. Also, as regards, Mr. Murphy's innocence, there's this:
In 1998, a 21-year-old male filed a similar report with Clarksville police claiming Murphy attempted to perform a sex act on him while he was sleeping. Charges were never filed in that case.
The only logical conclusion is that Mr. Murphy is incredibly unlucky, having been targeted twice for personal attack by sleeping homosexuals desperate to discredit promising social conservatives.
