Anybody in LA feel that? QUAKE!
Edited on Thu Aug-09-07 03:02 AM by BeHereNow
Small rolling quake just now...
Yikes.
I was going to bed just now and BOO, it hit ever so lightly.
Hope it's not a precursor of a bigger one!

Decent little jolt. Nothing to make me get up out of my chair though.

I've felt others like this before with nothing else. Somewhere I have a link to a geological site where you can report what you felt and it tells you by zip code how many people reported. Do you know of it?

23. Yep, just got back on line to check in.
I've also felt and heard some large noises around the house lately and wonder if theres a correlation. I guess you could call them booms of sorts - I just thought it was construction going on around the neighborhood.

Who knows?

Nope these were pretty significant booms which I assumed were construction, but they were enough to make me look up from what I was doing, and I had the radio on.

Again, who knows?

41. Remember this?
Author/Artist/Singer: Mama Cass Elliot
Music Title/Track: California Earthquake
Theme ID: 4601
Album: N/A

I heard they exploded the underground blast
They say its gonna happen - gonna happen at last
That's the way it appears
They tell me the faultline runs right through here

So that maybe that may be
What's gonna happens gonna happen to me
They tell me the faultline runs right through here

Atlantis will rise, Sunset Boulevard will fall
Where the beach used to be won't be nothing at all
That's the way it appears
They tell me the faultline runs right through here

So that maybe that may be
What's gonna happen's gonna happen to me
They tell me the faultline runs right through here

Instrumental

They tell me the faultline runs right through here

43. Yep, we were wide awake and busy. My very first act of political
protest was in jr. high and a friend and I skipped school and invested in a few dozen eggs and went out to meed Barry Goldwater. We never got near the guy, and we got caught skipping school.

At one time it was right, almost expected if you had some smarts, to be politically aware. Even in junior high. At least, my friends were. I detest people who say they're 'not interested' in politics. That means they expect everyone else to carry their weight and responsibility.

44. You know I've heard this from other friends of mine as well
who were active in the sixties. That if you weren't active, you weren't really 'with it'.

One friend told me at her university some of the fraternities got arrested for speaking out against the war. That was in California mind you.

Nevertheless there was much more active participation back then, which I'm sure the Pentagon, and other governmental entities have learned a lot from since Vietnam and those entities have worked diligently to prevent such activism again, with seemingly all sorts of mind altering conditioning and apathy inducement.

Prozac, Xanax and other meds, while helpful perhaps in some ways, can be seen as ways to simply keep people from addressing the issues staring us straight in the face.

Call me conspiratorial. However look at the reality of where we are today.

I like what you said:

"That means they expect everyone else to carry their weight and responsibility."

Sadly enough, bingo. I think that is what we are seeing now.

People who don't want to "be interested" in politics, but who are interested in consumption/consumerism of all kinds. We are conditioned from the cradle now to want immediate gratification and any and all perks and illusions which come from living in America, or the America that we used to know.

The 'Dumb downers' have done a good job buying up every single shred of the media and as such are now feeding the public sloth.

As such, seems to me we have mass consumerism and a massive void/loss of activism.

Keep wondering what we can do about it?
