WTF! Those hijackers were no f'in kids. From folks they are now kids! Imagine the howl from the righties if a Dem referred to the 9-11 hijackers as 19 kids! Time for us to demand he quit sacrificing our kids! 9-11 has nothing to do with his Iraq fiasco!

In his first news conference at the White House since July 12, Bush argued U.S. intervention in Iraq will make the world safer in the long run.

"There is no question (the Iraqi government) hasn’t made as much progress as I would have hoped," Bush said, noting what a difficult task it is for a new democracy to gain its footing after years of tyranny.

"Does it matter whether there is a self-governing entity in Iraq in the region that is an ally in the war on terror? … Does it matter to your children? It does matter. It does matter because enemies that would like to do harm to the American people would be emboldened by failure.”

Bush said there has been debate over whether the danger to the United States is real.

"I strongly believe that is the case,” he said, adding that it is our job to “work to change the conditions that moved 19 kids to come on airplanes to murder our citizens. … I could not send a mother’s child into combat if I did not believe it was necessary."

I agree that you're not ancient. But let's get down to brass tacks. My mom is 62 and someone I work for is 67, both these people's lives and ongoing mental well-being are important to me and I would be full of shit if I were to say that I didn't worry about them being affected by the onset of sickness and/or death that comes with old age. The 60s are the trail end of middle age, if not the beginnning of old age.

I did catch part of this news conference, because my husband had it on and was just flabergasted that this man is our president. And my husband is a Republican. We replayed parts of it on Tivo because it was so outrageous.

When asked any kind of question or expected to speak without a script, he's completely lost. And can't even hide it.
