"Oppenheimer" the TV Mini Series available in the UK - NOT IN THE US...
A year or two ago I joined a growing group of folks who want the BBC/PBS to re-release the excellent 1982 Mini Series 'Oppenheimer'. Well, about a year ago, the BBC released it in the UK...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Oppenheimer-Complete-BBC-Disc-Box/dp/B000FL79L2/ref=sr_1_1/026-9530571-0062032?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1186675435&sr=1-1

At the time, we were assured that the US version would only be a few months away. But I know how many times we've heard that before, so I ordered it, found the Region unlock codes for may DVD player, and watched it with my family.

Well, here we are a year later and...

2. I've seen it
won't say how, but I've seen it. Yeah, like you I was ticked that it wasn't in our format, but that can be overcome.....I just hope that somehow they get it in a format where US folks can see it. Brilliant performances.

3. It's perfectly legal to buy the UK version and make your DVD player non-regional...
A bit of a pain in the ass, but it's legal.

5. That's what my husband did
And yes, it WAS a pain--took twice as long as it did to watch it. I wasn't sure if that was legal or not, and am a bit paranoid.

But it is well worth watching--you get the full impact of the rwinger witch hunt and how rival scientists took advantage of the situation.

Download VLC media player--comes in all operating systems, will play all regions of DVD and all types of video files. It's freeware, produced by students at a technical school in Paris:

You can order all those great BBC and other Brit videos from amazon.co.uk (we've been watching all the new Doctor Whos as soon as they're released, long before they even get shown in BBCA.

Of course, if you're into downloading torrents, you can watch the shows just a few hours after they're shown...

8. Ooooh, I can't wait. That looks good. Has anyone else read:
"Now It Can Be Told : The Story of the Manhattan Project" by Leslie R. Groves or "The Making of the Atomic Bomb" by Richard Rhodes?

Great books and necessary reading for anyone seeking a complete understanding of the behind the scenes on the A bomb.
