Tweety (a.k.a, "Shrub ASSWIPE") blared that Shrub was POWERFUL, "LIKE A ROCK!!1"
Edited on Thu Aug-09-07 11:20 AM by UTUSN
Dedicated to ANYbody here who can still claim that Tweety was "anti-war" or any other positive thing.

Yaas, Tweety, with a face that looked like it had been exposed to radiation, burst on the screen immediately after Shrub, and he looked like he was going to deliver the Ten Commandments.

Starting with that first, "Anybody can see that this was a POWERFUL NEWS CONFERENCE. There at the end, (Shrub) delivered his ultimate rationale for why we are in this war, which is NOT just to nation build, not to create an ally in the war on terror, but to institute democracy as a means of combating hostile feelings to us, in order to prevent another 9-11. And it was clear that he was LIKE A ROCK, that after September's PETRAEUS's report, he will not back down."

Even the other asswipe Chip TODD was trying to moderate Tweety's rendition, trying to cool Tweety's Shrub-gasm. Then David GREGORY delivered a mild, neutral assessment.

But Tweety topped himself. He said, "David, we don't get to see (Shrub) face to face as often as you do. Every time I see him in these press conferences, he is impressive. He's AWAKE, it must be from those early bedtimes. He is focused. And all I can say is that his surrogates do NOT get this image of him across. It is the fault of his Communications Department that this doesn't get across to the people. David?"

GREGORY did not pick up on it, tried to put the lid on Tweety, said something meaningless and nondescript.

First thing i thought of, too when I read this thread title! Maybe we should buy one and send it to Tweeters.

19. I was watching Tweety and had to turn it off.
I was embarrassed for MSNBC - Tweety was clearly having a sugar high and every observation he made was grossly off base.

Tweety talked about having lunch with Wolfowitz in the run up to the war and the neocon theory about bringing democracy to the mideast and that they are still on the mission. Tweety was supporting the democracy theory with childish adoration.

In other words, he isn't quite brain dead yet. It's hilarious that Tweety would be doing celebratory back-flips over the fact that Bush is awake for one of his press conferences, as though that were some amazing quality for a President to have.

23. A. Time to stop watching him and B. The Dems let the guy off the ropes
by caving in so there is going to be much more vocal admiration now from people who, like Tweety, always have had a crush on the guy which at bad times had to remain secret. Another consequence of the Dems' action. Plus Bush feels more confident and emboldened. As to Tweety, he is probably positioning himself to replace Snow...

28. He's not ON for his RATINGS. If ratings mattered, he would have been dumped and
Phil Donohue kept--because Phil was doing WAY better than Tweety when Nachman lowered the boom on him.

They don't care if they make a profit on that piddling little station--it's an organ, a mouthpiece, a platform from which they manipulate you, see?

Tweety would never replace Snow. He's a media whore, but he's not a streetwalker.

36. And,...lots of us who used to watch have stopped. He's paid off to be there...
that's the only explanation. All he does lately is talk about politics and uses David Schuster (the best person he ever had on his show) to do political reporting now rather than anything investigative.

When Mike Barnakle is on he's a little better. At least he doesn't rave like a fool and cut guests off with ridiculous rambling comments like the Tweet.

41. Barnicle is horrible--HE's more GOP than Tweety. Really.
Barnicle is a Reagan Democrat who was fired by the Globe for plagiarizing George Carlin. If you were from Boston you'd have his "numbah."

Tweety is a "Went Against His Family" Democrat (war opposing, Peace Corps hippie type) who worked for

--Jimmy Carter

--Tip O'Neill

--Ed Muskie

Tweety's brother ran unsuccessfully for GOP LTGOV in PA. Tweety's wife used to work for one of the most offensive right wing TV stations in the USA. Now she works for Mormon Marriott International.

He's Blue-Doggish, and 'torn.' At this stage in his life, anyway.

Half of Tweety's problems are caused by his diabetes. That's why he flails. He doesn't medicate properly.

44. No, Tweety is not the Raygun Dem. He worked for O'Neill when
RWR was in office. Tip O'Neill was the DEMOCRATIC Speaker of the House.

He is actually a conservative to moderate Democrat.

His wife is a Republican, though.

He was a Peace Corps hippie who opposed Vietnam.

Tweety's brother did run for LTGOV on the GOP ticket. But Tweety is out of step with the members of his family politically, though less so as years go on.

31. They're trying to get Shrub's & Repubs approval ratings back up - notice no bad war news lately
Just in time for the election. They've been given their marching orders. Notice how they've been trumpeting that his approval ratings have gone up in the past few days. They've also been talking about how support for the war and the surge has gone up.

So predictable...

and I think Gregory is trying to get his own show so he's selling out.

33. he's already laying the groundwork for '08
He trashes Hillary constantly, yet trumpets her as 'inevitable' and 'a steamroller'. He's setting her up to take a spectacular fall at the hands of the VRWC.

Matthews has quite a history. Remember that he was the first to give the Swiftboat liars a platform on his show, and he broadcast their ads over and over and over again...giving away for free priceless air time for their smears.

Yesterday, who did he bring on his show to evaluate a potential Clinton presidency? None other than Buzz Patterson, a widely discredited right-wing nutter whose lunatic ravings have been proven to be lies. Not only did he scream his way through the segment that Hillary is anti-military, anti-American, etc. but insulted an Iraq war veteran and practically accused him of treason because he isn't a right-wing nutter as well.

THIS is Matthews' MO...he can't defend Bush's insane rantings so he glows and slobbers about his 'masculine' characteristics, his toughness, his being awake(!) and his 'sunny nobility'. He's doing much the same with the GOP slate, hedging his bets until the nominee is known, but spreadin' the love. Then he sets up a preview of what next year will be like by bringing trash like Patterson on his show.

This is a puppet of a war profiteer, a not-very-good-or-bright propagandist who flips in the wind (one day anti-Bush, one day his bff) because even he can't defend the indefensible - until he finds a day when Bush doens't look drug-dazed or drunk and then he's back to being "Churchillian". We should be watching Matthews like a hawk for the remainder of the year, because his playbook becomes more and more obvious daily and the only way to fight the beast is to know his tactics.
