Embattled AG Gonzales visits Baghdad

WASHINGTON - Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, under fire at home with calls for his resignation, is spending some time in Iraq.

---

"I am pleased to see firsthand ... the progress that the men and women of the Justice Department have made to rebuild Iraq's legal system and law enforcement infrastructure," Gonzales said in a statement released by the department.

---

Gonzales also was an architect of U.S. policy on the treatment of prisoners abroad and author of a 2002 memo saying the president had the right to waive laws and treaties that protect war prisoners.

---

Entire article at link. I do not believe anything he says.

2. Hey fredo,
go piss up a rope. You have no credibility whatsoever. As if you'd quit being a self serving prick for 5 minutes and really report what's going on in Iraq. Fugg off!

5. Brilliant!
Bush and Congress need to join him. They can stay for their entire recess. After all, Iraq is the most important issue facing the US. I think a paid vacation to Iraq for our representatives (and their families) is a matter of national security. And don't worry about the expense, this junkets on us.

6. Yes,
With a lovely picnic for all of them outside of the 'green zone'.
Wouldn't want them to miss out on the beautiful landscape of Iraq
since we saved it from saddam.

7. You know....things are so bizarre these days I though this was from "The Onion."
sheesh. I can't imagine that weasley coward making it through that "dive bomb" the "visitors" have to do to get into the airport to avoid getting blown out of the sky. But, maybe it's the only manly thrill these Chicken Hawks get is having to be pinned in their seats as they dive down into the "War Zone" that we've made.

8. Chimpy probably told him how cool getting to wear
a flightsuit with an oversized codpiece is, and told Gonzo
he could wear one for a great photo op.
It is bizarre enough to be from "The Onion" but, nothing
those asshole crusts do surprises me anymore.

9. What the hell does he have to do with ANYTHING in Iraq???
Then again, what the hell are ANY of them over there for? They should all come home NOW, where we have nice sanitary prison cells waiting for them.
